Okeedokee lets explore that for a moment based on Cerb's OP. Do you think religously motivated people i.e. extremeists would give a flying phuck for our judicial system?
Do you think that their worldview of moral justice coincides with that of the western liberal democracies?

WOW - that's sooo profound and thought-provoking, and I wonder why nobody has thought of it before. So, Int_Unity, how would you do it? Tell us the first thing you'd do to stop mad dog psychopaths from committing atrocities, and how a 'tougher system' will make them change their ideology about spreading the good word of Islam to every country on the planet??

There's no need to be sarcastic; I'm not being sarcastic with you.
In relation to your question, I think the luxuries need taking away; this included TV's, video games and games tables. I think they should have radio, however the radio should only play specific music and talk radio that would be productive to their rehabilitation. I think the education they receive in prisons should focus on refuting extremist ideology; notice I said extreme ideology and not Islam? Most Muslims are decent people.
The other option is deportation and refusal of re-entry into the country.

Probably not, and if not, deport them.

I apologise for the sarcasm, but either you're an extreme liberal to have this strange need to go easy on psychopathic killers; and if you believe any of your measures would make them 'see the error of their ways', you're extremely naive.

Trump said he won't take them in Guantanamo.
He also said we should take those held in rebel prisons in Syria.

If they was born oversees, they should be deported from their country of birth. If they was born here in the UK, prison is the only option.

I'm an extreme liberal in our current system; that's the only way one can be without going against the grain.
I agree with you, killing them would solve the issues and prevent they committing acts of terror again; I believe this wholeheartedly. Our justice system is administered wrong, and until it is taken control of it will always be too lenient. I don't know the path to this as I'm not familiar with the laws surround such reform, however reform is required.

Thank you for that I_U, and I think a meeting of minds is on the horizon. ;) As you rightly say, a radical reform of the legislature is desperately required, but the trouble is that our pathetic leaders don't have the faintest idea what those reforms need to be - or if they do know, they won't make the changes because the liberal lobby would be rioting in the streets. In either case, it will be the green light for the terrorists with zero fear of the consequences of their actions.

Correction - I have an issue with fundamentalist Islam. Apart from that I have no more a problem with Islam than I have with all the other ****ing religions. I'd proscribe them all if I could.

I agree with this notion; I'm not against radical reform, I have just surrendered in trying to justify the society we have; I'm tired of the static with the governments idea of justice and what justice should actually be.
It nice to have some common ground with you.

    meanie...

I'm pretty much on board with your though process and as Cerb pointed out there does need to be a politcal will to do it and as with Cerb I'm not sure there is enough bollocks to go and ask the questions that need to asked. I would love to know the outcome of just such a process....Brexit was a shot in the eye for the establishment is there the will to bring in a death penalty I wonder?

Forgive me but that just sounds really cowardly!! If you have a view (that's not illegal nor involves knee touching) then express it.... follow your Benthamite conscience and not the Kantian one....;)

Well, I mean when we think of the trouble and misery religion causes, and has caused over the millennia, I reckon the world would be a far better place without it. For reasons I won't bore anyone with now, I listen to Sunday Worship on BBC Radio 4, and the frenzied praying, and the childlike obsequiousness to him upstairs, it's literally scary that anyone with a full-developed adult brain can be a part of it. Yet another reason I'm so thankful to be a loner.
