Once more, remembering that America went nearly two centuries without a random mass shooting despite a surfeit of guns, I don't think this is the answer.
We can't get the right answers until we start asking the right questions.

The FBI dropped the ball. The schools dropped the ball. Our social safety net dropped the ball.
Blame guns! (I am for sensible effective gun control, by the way)

No plan is perfect but a sick society that glorifies killers, attention whores, dysfunctional celebrities is headed for a long decline and fall. Our values system is so messed up and school age children are the most vulnerable
among us, considering how many parents have abdicated any responsibility at all.

I don't think a politically slanted prayer breakfast is an indicator
of where the average concerned Christian is at.

These shootings are WAY to common. The rest of the developed world laughs at these "suggestions". Clearly they can all just say "Why arm teachers when you can just have gun control?"

 

Straw Man Alert!

We can do something and your "looney left" BS is getting old.

We could make possessing a gun radioactive for people we all agree shouldn't have them--felons, those using them to commit crimes, and gang members. (Radioactive=serious jail time). We can use effective background checks to limit guns getting into the hands of children, the mentally ill, and the senile. We could have a license to possess any firearm, even one you make, that is earned by demonstrating at least some proficiency in handling weapons. We could model it on the Nexus Pass that's tied to a database. It would be a simple matter for police to check to see if someone is entitled to possess a weapon ... and woe unto anyone who gets caught with a firearm and no permit.

How about coming up with answers? I think a lot of people living in our inner cities would support an inexpensive gun permit process--we could even wave the permit fee for poor people--that would allow them to carry but deny permits to gang members and felons.

Wouldn't you feel safer if felons, gang members, and people using guns to commit violent crimes faced long sentences for being armed? I would. Children? They should use guns under the supervision of an adult outside of rural areas, and even in those areas they should have a permit that shows they're competent in the use of firearms. Old people? Over 80 (or...?), you should have to pass a mental competence test to retain you gun license.

 

If that is true.....how about you cut her some slack?
