If you are nude, you protect yourself with clothing. I simply am not wanting to take freedom away from citizens. I also do not reward non citizens with our rights.

As to guns, phffft nothing but simple machines. If we can form laws against guns, a machine, we can form laws on all machines. This is not freedom.

Democrats must love government given they want more and more laws to direct their own very less free lives. We need to restore freedom.

Why do Democrats want Trump to disarm them? When you fight for a right, do not hand it back to Government.

You know what I found interesting, in California Trump won the Indian reservations votes bigly.

My first real exposure of poverty was when I was six years old in 1957 while driving through Gallup, New Mexico that is right next to the Navajo Nation reservation. Indians living out of abandon cars and passed out drunk Indians laying on the sidewalks. It was an eye opener.

I have been to Gallup. I spent the night at Santa Rosa NM and had departed AZ and on 40 went through Gallup. I don't recall stopping. Too bad how the Indians turned out until they were able to get casinos.

Why should it stun Obama supporters when he only had 90 mass shooting deaths in 8 years?

Casinos have helped many reservations bigly.

There are a couple of bars in Needles, California one avoids unless you like to fisticuffs. At nigh the bars are full of drunk Mojave Indians and Mojaves are warriors who are really big and love to get into fist fights.
They also make good soldiers and Marines.

If you are talking about Africa being a basket case today, it was the European countries like Great Britain, France, Portugal. Germany and Spain who never prepared Africans for democracy, they just gave them their freedom during the 1950's and 60's and they were on their own not knowing how democracy works.

At least America spent forty years preparing the Philippines to becoming a democracy of some kind.

Africa is Europe's problem not America's problem.

The liberty to live got taken away from lots of children for the sake to have deadly weapons.
It's a freedom you can live without in order to safe lives of children.

    personal attack noted

typical of those on the far right who have been defeated in a forum debate (and we've seen lots of that here lately)

To many insults not enough argument.

I think the US government is largely broken, unable to do almost anything new even if it had to. Conservatives feel its an all powerful, if completely incompetent force. Its kind of hard to be both

The question was collusion between the tobacco industry and the auto industry. Wasn't about laws.

Well if the reference is to Vietnam then of course Bush and Iraq would also make the list.

Not quite, both industries are heavily taxed, not heavily regulated.
Let's take the legal definition of a Schedule II drug, 'Substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a high potential for abuse, with use potentially leading to severe psychological or physical dependence.'
That sums up tobacco as nicotine is defined as a drug.
    Now for the cars
Title 49 of the United States Code, Chapter 301, Motor Vehicle Safety "That the public is protected against unreasonable risk of crashes occurring as a result of the design, construction, or performance of motor vehicles and is also protected against unreasonable risk of death or injury in the event crashes do occur."
    Sums up high performance cars.
So at face value it would be simple to enforce existing laws and rules and stop the sale and possession of both tobacco and high performance cars.

One caveat would be that Great Britain was the greatest colonizer among all European countries. Australia, Canada, the US, New Zealand, are far better off than any country colonized by the Spanish, for example.

Were the British to have colonized everything the Northern Arctic to Tierra del Fuego there would be no border problems. Just looking across the border from the US into Mexico you can see the difference between Spanish and British consequences. Americans can also be grateful for the Louisiana Purchase, the Gadsden Purchase, the Alaska Purchase, especially those Americans now living in those States.

    I concur.

Look at Mexico...Mexico is a basket case. Mexico has always been a basket case. It will always be a basket case. It's not Mexicans fault that they are a basket case but the Spanish Crown.

    The British Empire.
Do you know how close California came to being part of the British Empire ? It almost happened.
But from day one when Mexico won it's independence from Spain, Mexico was a basket case and in debt to England, France and the United States.

The British Crown did some snooping and pooping in Mexico during the late 1830's and 1840's and already having problems in India decided that California wasn't worth it and allowed the United States with it's Manifest Destiny to occupy the west coast of North America..

The War of 1812 had something to do with England allowing America to have California and the Oregon territory. England didn't ever want to fight Americans again in war. America had this really weird right, the Second Amendment that every American was a citizen soldier and had a gun and were marksmen.

From 1815 with the end of the War of 1812 America and England have always had close ties and have always been allies. Having a common language comes into play.

You made the claim so you should support it. I understand they may have been critical of certain members of the FBI, and the DOJ, but you said "FOX is making it mainstream to hate the FBI, the DOJ and the rule of law".

That's pretty serious stuff and should be supported by some facts.

Most of "American expansion" has come through purchasing of territories from foreign governments, as with the Louisiana Purchase from France so Napoleon could finance his wars.

Rather than have all the people of Central America and Mexico come to the US there should be dramatic changes within those countries. Just adopting the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights would make a huge difference, but those in positions of power and influence, and all within a culture of corruption, would never allow that.
