Has anyone seen the proposed three way split? California is to be split in half, dividing the North from the South.
And then the third bit is a strip of coastal counties from Monterrey to Los Angeles. Sounds like the very very rich (think of Oprah and other Santa Barbara friends) would like to be rid of the rest of California and carve out an exclusive strip of land just for themselves.

A great scam for them if the rest of Californians will go along with the scheme.

I strongly believe that any ideology can turn totalitarian or take on totalitarian characteristics, and that the only serious buffer against this is a very decentralised form of government such that jurisdictions have to compete for citizens.

I favor democracy on a small level, close to the people it serves. If this is met I'm not all that concerned which direction you lean, the rest will sort itself out.

 

Any group of people should be able to dissolve the political bands that tie them to a larger jurisdiction. The goal should be self-government, not other-government.

Someone has been trying to split up the State for at least 50 years. Won't happen.

The strongest driver has always been the fight for water.

 

They will just go to other states and infect them with gangs and crimes. Nobody is left to support all the welfare in Ca. so they will leave for greener pastures to live off whats left of american suckers.

 

God will decide when to eliminate the California coastline all the way to Washington state. What's left? Mostly sensible people.
