The very fact that nationalist far right parties are making strong headway in elections solely on the topic of Muslim violence and authoritarianism inherit in its disgusting religion is proof enough that there is in fact a problem. The entire continent of Europe is paralyzed with fear when it comes to anything "nationalist". Virtually everything that has happened politically since the end of WW2 has been to remove and if possible eliminate borders and national identities. They set up a common currency, allowed people to move around freely without passports, normalized laws that normally individual countries and states would do. The far right has been on the fringe for several decades now and all of a sudden its picking up steam? Ask why? The large media outlets in Europe deny any problems with Muslim immigration, the leadership deny any problems with Muslim immigration only the far right parties are claiming problems with Muslim immigration. Are the far right parties so skillful in their tweets and facebook postings that they have manage do convince larger and larger numbers of people every year that the is a problem with Muslims even though it doesn't exist?

If there was no Muslim problem then the parties pretty much running on "no more Muslims" would not be winning all across Europe.

My disagreement is only with the categorization "far right". The open borders, anti-culture left wing European administrations throw the words "far right" at women and children marching on independence day in Poland. The categorization is obviously nonsense. There just aren't that many Nazis.

Why this woman is still 'serving' in the German government as opposed to swinging from a lamppost is beyond me.......what she has done to Germany and the German people is treasonous

The German government distinguishes very clearly between ‘refugee’, ‘immigrant’ and ‘asylum seeker’, simplifying that doesn’t make any sense in my book, and yes, inaccurately used is the right expression, used by those who are not familiar with details and prefer to use these terms inaccurately.
I’ve already posted a link with an interview with a cop who works in Duisburg-Marxloh, one the problematic areas. Tis in German but google translate should do an ok job. I have yet to hear of a no go zone created by newly arrived refugees/immigrants as you suggested and I’ve also mentioned Berlin-Neukölln or Hamburg St. George which both have had problem areas for probably two decades and these problems were not created by newly arived people. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure these were unknown to you. So call me old fashioned but I think I know a tad more about this whole thing than people who a) don’t live here, b) don’t speak the language. Of course Merkel uses her rhetoric to take the wind out of AFD’s sails. It's typical politician’s behaviour that shouldn't surprise us in any way.
You should hear Horst Seehofer, until recently prime minister in Bavaria and probably the new home secretary, or Markus Söder, Bavaria's new prime minister, doing that.

One thing is correct here, 'nationalist' does have a rather negative connotation to it, just like 'socialist' is the ultimate evil word in the US making every yank scream and run.
There are still tons of laws that each and every country can pass on its own, it's a rather common misconception that everything gets decided in Brussels; nope.
Media outlets have been reporting about problems with refugees/immigrants/asylum seekers and these things are discussed; not only in the media but also in politics. Contrary to what misinformed people believe, Merkel has been criticized for her policies right from the start. Politicians in Germany and other countries do debate these things, no idea where the notion that media as well as leaders deny any problems comes from. In Germany for instance, the former head of the Green Party (a rather left party) has addressed current and possible future problems. Journalists, authors, law experts, etc debate this, it is part of the political discourse.

    Absolutely not. lol

That you want or have a zero tolerance has absolutely nothing to with admitting that you got no-go area's. It's utterly insane to even suggest it and just completely fake news.

I guess if you can destroy a country and then brainwash the young ones for a generation then you can get them to vote for their own genocide........sad that a once proud people have been reduced to this.....

Europe didn't have any dangerous ghettos so they decided to create some. What a brilliant idea that was!

" and there are such rooms and you have to call that by name and you have to do something about it."

What part of "there ARE such rooms" are people having a problem with?

Merkel said it. That's the whole point. I don't know what you mean.

EDIT: just to clarify, this is what Merkel said - I don't think we need to go around thsi mulberry bush any more:

Caligula is German, he can verify that. He disputes that the "no go" areas in question relate to immigrants, which is another matter. The thrust of my point was that Merkel acknowledged the simple existence of no-go areas.

You say Merkel uses her rhetoric to undermine the AFD, but that the truth is different. Are you therefore saying that Merkel is trying to imply that the no-go areas are caused by immigrants in order to pull AFD supporters back into her clutches, but that the actual truth is that they are not? That seems a bit conspiratorial to me, but if that's your position, OK.

There's a fair bit of posturing is going on from a couple of members. Merkels words are clear enough, and neither of the German participants are saying anything different, at least in terms of acknowledging the existence of no-go areas, although Caligula insists they're not down to immigration.

The video posted earlier says thus:

Would you dispute this? If not, it seems to be rather dancing on the head of a pin to fuss about no-go zones being down to other factors. The overall point is that where immigration goes, trouble follows.

I am referring to the large news networks in Germany which have for years denied any problems in Muslim communities.

    http://www.spiegel.de/international...s-lying-to-them-about-refugees-a-1079049.html

There was also the incidence in Cologne last year when some law enforcement official let it slip that there was a rape problem and the local media and local leaders went into overdrive trying to sweep it under the rug. They are literally trying to outlaw criticism of Muslim immigrants and making it punishable with fines and prison time.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...09392edc612_story.html?utm_term=.234ddfcf3ff8

At first I figured that there might be more smoke than fire but if there is one thing I have learned about governments is when they scream and shout to look away and prevent even discussions on an issue then that pretty much alone convinces me there is a problem.

The irony is that the rise of nationalist far right parties is entirely because of the lefts unwillingness to call out the barbarism, authoritarianism, sexism and backwards ideology that is called Islam.

I did, I dropped it on the Germany posters that I speak with here through PM's and it was agreed.

    She did say that.

Flemish Patriots Tear Down Massive EU Flag From Historic Castle At Open Borders Event. Leftists React In Horror.
Germans are nothing if not very well behaved.

Newly formed nationalist youth movement, Schild en Vrienden (literally ”Shield and Friends”), several dozen members of which purposefully strode into the 12th century castle, proceeding to cut down a gigantic EU flag from its walls and challenging what they referred to as ”state subsidized propaganda.”

”It’s an historical reference, ‘‘Schild en Vriend’’ [”Shield and Friend”], not really meant for translation. It was something the Flemish used to shout when the French tried to invade us in 1302, but the simple Flemish farmers and craftsmen beat back a whole professional French army of knights.’’

A rallying cry he sees striking a chord with countrymen in more modern times, regardless of ”state subsidized propaganda” for open borders.

Looks like Germany, who never misses an opportunity to strike a sanctimonious pose toward America is the base of the supply chain that provides Assad with the components he needs to launch Chemical Weapons on his own civilians.

For the past several weeks, administration officials have told reporters that Germany is selling Iran technology that Iran is using to help the Assad regime replenish its chemical weapons stocks.

Last week, the Jerusalem Post reported that the Germany's Krempel Group provided components found on the Iranian rockets used by the Syrian regime in its chemical attack in Douma.

The German government refused to comment on Krempel's apparent contribution to Assad's deployment of chemical weapons against civilians.

As for the nuclear deal with Iran, according to administration officials involved in negotiations with the Europeans to amend the deal, Germany is the principle obstacle to substantive changes to the agreement.

According a report in the Washington Free Beacon, a U.S. official said that Germany refuses to agree to apply sanctions against Iran for its development of ballistic weapons.

Rather than sanctioning Iran for its ballistic missile development, which the administration has determined violates the spirit of the agreement as well as binding UN Security Council resolutions, according to the administration official, "the Germans say the West should simply keep waiving sanctions and offer to negotiate with Iran on its missile program by offering the regime more economic incentives in exchange for JCPOA-like concessions on the missiles."

As for Hezbollah, Germany has stopped Europe from taking more decisive action.

As Benjamin Weinthal from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies has noted, Germany for years blocked efforts by European Union members, particularly the Netherlands, to label Hezbollah a terror group. Underpinning Germany's behavior was an unspoken agreement with the terror group that Hezbollah can operate in Europe on condition that it doesn't attack European targets.

    Good post.

"He who knows only his own side of the case, knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them. But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side; if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion." - On Liberty Ch 2

    Thanks!

I REALLY do try, my sig posts my political beliefs but I am lucky enough to truly hate both parties and TRULY hated both Trump and Clinton. It was wierd going to the voting booth and not voting for President (my write in was obviously meaningless).

I do find it interesting that those who refuse to listen truly are on all sides. There was one gay guy that was literally YELLING at me because I did not tow the exact line that he has been taught as he attended Berkeley.

Then, on the other hand, a short haired flat out what you would call "Bull Dyke" (short dyed hair, looked like a dude, extremely aggressive) lesbian friend of my GF was incredibly willing to listen to me. We talked about my relatives in Texas and my undergrad in AZ and how different they are than the bubble of ideas that our group was talking about, mainly backed by Berkeley and UCLA graduates of 07-12.

In the end we were both finally able to agree that the Federal government needs to be smaller and the states and even cities need to have more control of how different their cultures are compared to each other.

So much can get done when we just speak with each other, but many times when you try, BOTH SIDES immediately put up their gloves and start attacking whatever they feel will harm the message or the messenger in the debate at hand.
