    No indeed as a northern general offer such to blacks at the end of the civil war from the resources of the defeated south and was over rule by the civilian leadership in Washington.

    Wish there was more readers of history books on this website.

    I've gotten free coffee from Starbucks, too.

    I had left my wallet in the car. The cashier told me not to worry about it.

    While I think the claim of being "owed" coffee is bogus, the treatment those in PA got was NOT some small deal - and the general issue is NOT isolated in that one state.

    I'm glad to see Starbucks stepping up and doing something about it.

    I don't believe Starbucks "feels the need to give them coffee".

    It's ridiculous to interpret that free copy in the way you propose.

    Do the Irish get reparations?

    For those that don't know, the conscripted Irish were considered more expendible and often used by the Union as cannon fodder in the civil war. They were chunked together and sent on suicide charges to soften up the more heavily fortified Confederate positions. One could argue that my ancestors suffering led to the freeing of black slaves.

    I wonder if I, being of Irish decent, could get free coffee at Starbucks...

    Off hand I think that most blacks would settle for being treated in the same manner and respect as white customers and not finding themselves being drag out of a store by six cops that had nothing better to do at the moment.

    But as someone else already had posted at least they was not shot not even one time less alone the twenty times it seems to be standard for dealing with unarmed black males anymore.

    Every time a black male is shot,
    Starbucks should offer all black males a free expresso shot.

    Only then can they begin to make payments against their horrible legacy of White Privilege.

    I want my reparations too. My Grandparents came to the US in 1900 and were worked in sweat shops. Where the hell are my reparations?

    As much as I hate to admit it (being a leftie myself), this is almost certainly true.

    It isn't about practical solutions - to anything. It's about emotions .. and emotions are never satisfied, because they're emotions. They are not a need to be met.
