What to do when you run out of argumets? Make up a conspiracy, of course!

Conspiracies are the go to argument by the right when they have no arguments. So when Mueller or the FBI give indications of wrongdoing by Trump it's an FBI Conspiracy. And remember.. the announcement that Russia had intervened in the election, was an Intelligence Agency Conspiracy.

The number of Liberal Conspiracies is endless, and the accusation can be triggered by anything. For example, a liberal pointing out to how families are torn apart by deportation, to calling on Americans to exercise their right to vote.

The BLM conspiracy was, in their minds, a fight against cops. And White Supremacist's acts of violence and even killing an innocent bystander was nothing but an ANTIFA Conspiracy.

And, of course, their losing beaten in so many political races in the last year have nothing to do with Republican dishonesty and incompetence, but is just a Soros Conspiracy.

And let's not forget that pesky Science Conspiracy that keep producing evidence of Global Warming. And anybody saying that we share responsibility with the rest of the world, any who says that they are a citizen of the world, or even that they are a jelly donut, are part of a One-world order Conspiracy

But if anybody dares point out to facts. If anybody produces references to prove how deluded they are, they resort to their ultimate wacko-theory: the MSM Conspiracy.

To those on the left: don't ascribe this to paranoia. Paranoids suffer a mental condition that can be medically treated. This cannot. This is simply intellectual laziness.

To those on the right, you might consider the possibility that all these conspiracies exist only in their heads. That the world is relatively OK, and it's the way your minds work that is at fault...

Conspiracies work well to satisfy those who already have an extreme-right agenda. They feel that if they can respond something.... anything.... even if it makes no sense... then they are not completely wrong. But they're not going to convince any independent thinker. By this I mean that nobody who is not already a complete Trump fanatic is going to say "Yeah... sounds like there is a world-wide conspiracy against Trump and, therefore, I conclude he is not guilty of any wrongdoing". It just won't happen. You can convince yourselves and each other that conspiracies will have any effect on anybody who is not already extreme right.... but if you ever wanted to know what reality looks like, you would look for arguments

When I achieved the age of majority, the smartest person in the room was a conservative. You needed a dictionary to follow a conversation with Bill Buckley. Reading a copy of National Review was like breathing the pure oxygen of reason.

Today, the dumbest person in the room is a pseudo-conservative Fox News parrot. They don't know a conservative core principle when one kicks them in the nuts. They are so far off the reservation, it isn't even funny any more.

The Rube Herd has been deliberately dumbed down. Their attention spans have been purposefully decreased to the intellectual bandwidth of a bumper sticker. Their memory recall has been reduced to that of a goldfish. They are capable of emitting and comprehending only that which can fit into a tweet. There isn't a single original thought in their collective hive mind.

In short, they have become the living embodiment of Orwell's proles.

Yes. Exactly. That, in a fanatical Trump supporter's mind, is a mass media conspiracy along with our intelligence agencies, all conspiring with "reality" and "facts".

And we all know how much them lil boogers "reality" and "facts" hate Donald Trump. They'd do anything to undermine his glorious presidency.

The OP is a cop out because it addresses conspiracies generally rather than dividing them into theory and fact. It is a distortion that is anti critical thinking.

The intention of the OP is not to discuss each conspiracy theory individually. It's to show how, the right fabricates conspiracy theories when they have no arguments to defend their position.

The right uses many irrational tactics to do this. All of them rely exclusively on Logical Fallacies. For example, your message does the same by attempting to focus on the examples that support my point instead of on the point itself. This is called a "Strawman Fallacy"

LOL, umm there is a problem with the cognitive distortion of “all or nothing thinking”, and implied “minimization”.

Critical thinking cannot be done with distortions.

    Conspiracy theories are critical thinking.

    Too critical.

They ignore the simple and the obvious in favour of the contrived and complex.

But critical thinkers are the ones who come up with them.

My advice. Simplify to best understand.

For a long time now when democrats are losing an argument, they come out with the name calling.

That is the best way to tell if you are winning an argument with a democrat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The OP is right. When you run out of arguments, make up a conspiracy.

The Democratic Party is out of ideas, candidates, etc. They literally have squat. So what do they do? Russia-Trump!

It also can't be done by just accusing the person making the point of distorting without pointing out how.

You have submitted two responses to this thread, neither of which has any content whatsoever. See my previous message? I provide a specific example showing where your logic fails. At that point you had an opportunity to do the same. But you didn't. So you are obviously in no position to address critical thinking.

Okay, you don't know what you are doing, that is a good thing really. It means there is no mal intent.

    Golem said:

"The right" is a label. They "fabricate", implying they have minimum credibilty, "minimization". "Conspiracy theories" labeling again. There is also implied "entitlement" as you as if you were entitled to NOT have fabrications.

Speaking of reading issues what he said has to do with Trump being in league with Russia hence Trump/Russia. The The question isn't whether Russia tried to interfere in the election, they clearly did, the question has always been two fold. !st how successful were they? My answer was and remains not very they simply didn't spend enough or do enough to have had any big effect and mostly they went after the wrong people. 2nd Did they cooperate with Trump in the doing? The evidence we have from the Mueller indictment is that they tried to attach themselves loosely to the Florida Trump Campaign but weren't really successful in the attempt. And Then there is that Mueller statement that No American knowingly worked with any Russian agent. Based on that alone I assume there is know evidence the Trump knowingly colluded with Russia at this time.
