    That's a valid reason. I still think it can be used in certain situations where there is zero doubt about guilt. If we have a video, dozens of witnesses, forensic evidence, and an admission of guilt, then I'd be ok with the death penalty.

    I agree ... and the prosecution should get in trouble for hanky panky - such as withholding evidence from the defense.

    It should not be for simple murder - murder of one individual - but, for serial killers and the like.

    Sure as hell looks like it. Wasn't the Olkahoma bomber claiming he was a 'sovereign' citizen and the jerk didn't think the government had right to make him register his car or trunk.

    No, as you put yourself and your truck INTO that situation. This guy was NOT responsible for Naked Druggie Millennial Boy coming into the Waffle House, and while yeah he did save his own skin, he also saved others. I'd call that heroic.

    Well, the state would be killing those that are guilty, those that have already murdered. This occurs for two reasons: 1) it is justice, 2) it ensures that individual won't murder again.

    An example ... a man goes into a restaurant and kills six adults and five children. There is no society or religion on earth that would condone that act. By doing this, the individual has forfeited any right to his own life. Society has a right and a duty to protect itself from such an individual. Terminating his life provides justice for the families of the victims and ends any future threat.

    The state does not arbitrarily pick innocent people as candidates for the death penalty.
