Pennsylvania golf club apologized after calling police on black women members for playing too slow

Maintaining pace of play is a course rule on every single course I have ever played (it is actually a rule in the sport itself, although it's not exactly like people go out to their local course and follow all PGA rules).

 

The owner may also be the course marshal but ultimately the course marshal would report to him. This is NOT a unique situation and anyone who has ever played golf knows that. Even in professional and tourniment play there is a pace which must be maintained. Some courses have it post in the club house or first tee "You are expected to finest your round in X hours please maintain your pace of play."

It is just as racist to give preference based on skin color. Slow players need to be considerate of other players and keep up a pace. This should be posted where they paid their green fees.

If common courtesy is expected of everyone, but black people, have we really achieved equality?

 

I said as much in an earlier post. I don't think all white people are racist or that even a majority are. Some of you however think racism never happens. Or that if it does it mostly happens to white people. It's why you bend over backwards to excuse calling the cops because of slow golf play which is just ridiculous.

Yes. You can clearly see how emotional and combatitive the son owner was. A whole group of people couldn't control him and he was constatly trying to play the tough guy.

 

They are members and they have to comply with the rules of membership and the club has to treat them as they do all other members even in applying punishment. We do not know if they violated a club rule.

 

They were told they were too slow at the second hole! No doubt that there were impatient golfers waiting to start the first hole and were annoyed that a large group were ahead of them. And them being women and black could have made their annoyance even higher leading to complaints to the golf club owners. The link states that at the half way point three of the group left AND it states that they were too slow to start the 10th hole HENCE any group behind them would have been able to go ahead of them at that point.

But the police came at the of the round. What a waste of police time

No. In fact they were ok with the next group playing through, but they weren't even ready.

Another article also mentioned that everything was delayed one hour due to frost, so that probably added more frustration all around.

I doubt they were called to have them go out and speed up the pace of the women. Of course when we regularly see what black women do in fast food restaurants when they don't get their way.

So, if they were keeping pace, only on hole 2, and the club pro says they were fine, then what was the motive for calling the cops?

 

Rightwingers race to defend even a hint of discrimination against minorities, hell, even a speck.

 

It makes no sense, playing too slow is not a criminal offense and Police should have told them there was nothing to be done about it.
