I have just real mix thoughts about this. I was a teenager/twenty year old back in the later 60's and early 70's and saw social morales change with the sexual revolution and drugs in the pop scene. It was like one year and good girls don't do it and the next year all the girls were doing it. Sex was OK and FREEDOM and LIBERATION and all that stuff. And getting high was part of the sex. I had girls call ME up to tell me they had score some ludes and were coming over and they weren't coming over to watch a movie. And when a girl goes over to some guys apartment to drink wine and take pills...............well? My problem with Cosby comes with so many say they blacked out or couldn't remember and did he purposely knocked them out to violate them while they are passed out? Weird don't know why that would be fun but so many of them say that. But I haven't heard any who say they were slipped a drug, that they didn't know he had given them something and they didn't willingly take something but I will stand to be corrected if some did, I just haven't heard any.

And my real problem is it happened so long ago, if you are going to charge someone with something do it when they do it so memories are fresh, you can prove you were together at that certain time, you have contemporaneous witnesses, you even have physical evidence to support you claim. A person charged of sexual misconduct has their life ruined including ruining financially trying to defend along with the personal ruination. A person has a right to defend themselves in a proper manner. Let alone the fact the person who sexually abused you is going to sexually abuse someone else, not reporting it endangers others.

 

Yeah and if I was on the jury I would put in a recommendation for admission into the general population of whatever state level correctional institute he ends up in.

People can be denied that “special privilege”. Most states don’t even have a pay2upgrade system.

I use to watch the Cosby show all the time. He played a very likable character and was genuinely funny.
Given his age & celebrity, he might not do any jail time. The man is also blind or close to blind.

 

Sadly some people are extremely bloodthirsty.

USA should not subject anyone to inhumane punishment -- in Canada and Scandinavia prisons are humane. Crime rates in Canada and Scandinavia are not higher then in USA.

 

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson protected even the worst criminals from inhumane punishment. Criminals who would have been literally broken on the wheel in Europe.

 

"He gave me blue pills to take" is not the same as all as he "secretly drugged me," is it. There is horrific sexism in the view that if a man and a woman both knowingly get drunk or high and they have sex - the man is a rapist and the woman is a victim. Yet that is EXACTLY what the case against Cosby is. The woman consented to taking drugs, then claimed Cosby was solely responsible for her being under the influence of drugs.

You reasoning is exactly the reason he was prosecuted, but none of the Hollywood liberals are.

Cosby often said blacks need to stop playing the victim. A black man saying that MUST be sent to prison.

Really, Canada and Scandinavia do not have higher crime rate then USA for any demographic.

Canada and Scandinavia have humane systems.

 

Such is human nature. When Thomas Jefferson and George Washington abolished torture of free people, that was unthinkable by European standards.
