    All German cars should be banned from the USA after what VW did in violating US EPA laws and overall lying to every consumer, and in that criminal activity made VW the largest manufacturer.

    Germany does NOT allow free competition in Germany. In fact, a demand on Tesla was not only turning all technology over to German car makers, but even demanding Tesla make components for German made cars - all brands - so they can then use Tesla's factory to put Tesla out of business.

    Mecedes Benz are absurdly overpriced throw-away POS designed to break down after their short warranty runs out, with truly absurd extortion prices for parts are repairs afterwards. ALL German cars are made to be throw-away cars when the warranty expires.

    Germany charges 29% of value to import consumer vehicles from the USA.

    "A car or other motor vehicle imported to Germany from outside the EU is subject to a 10% import duty and a 19% import value added tax. (The value-added tax on imports is called import turnover tax "

    The USA charges 2.5% of value to import a vehicle from Germany.

    Dickhead Denizen believes this is good for America, why am I not surprised.

    Those aren't Trump quotes. They come from an agency statement:

    "The U.S. Department of Commerce started an investigation into automobile imports to determine whether they "threaten to impair the national security" of the United States, the agency said in a statement on Wednesday night local time."

    Here's the real issue:

    "U.S.-based automakers and auto parts makers also manufacture products in Mexico and Canada and then import them into the United States.

    I wonder how much this has got to do ... with Mexico and Canada," John Woods, CIO of Credit Suisse, told CNBC's Bernie Lo. "I suspect there is some leverage going on" that's designed to increase pressure on those countries as they try to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement with the United States."

    Why should BMW (which when tested by the researchers that tested the VWs, was found to have better emissions in the real life test than in the EPA test (opposite of the VWs)) suffer for VW's fraud? BMW's main competitors are produced by VW (the Audis and the Porsches).

    The value added tax is a sales tax applied to vehicles from all countries, including Germany.

    It's good for discerning Americans who get to buy a good quality car.
