BARFFF, you Trump guys are interesting people, i joined this forum because i thought it would be full of well thought out, introspective ideas about what we all should truly do to improve our place in this world. Man was i wrong, it is nothing but fanboys and trolls. Posting propaganda and having shouting triads, seriously some of you guys have 10,000, 30,000, 75,000 message's its one thing to enjoy talking to other people about politic and the such, but give me a break. Almost nothing in this thread has any merit or was well thought out. Everyone it bitching about stupid stereotypical none sense, the right wingers have a love affair with Trump, the leftist are whining because we are such big winners. Listen if you are on this forum trying to get genuine satisfaction for another persons accomplishments, then trust me you are not a WINNER.

It was the wrong concession at the wrong time

Trump was talking about pulling US troops out of south korea before he got elected

The joint exercises are needed for combat readiness and they are needed to maintain rapore between US and SK forces

Even if kim denuclearizes he still has considerable firepower aimed at S Korea

You're welcome to your opinion brother I just don't see it that way.

There's currently decades of experience training to invade North Korea. That's not just suddenly going to go away if we miss a few exercises.

My point is that we're trying to discuss peace. Kinda hard to do that when you're practicing exercises aimed at invading the people you're talking to.

These guys are ready one way or the other, and could start again with very little effort needed if they were necessary.

Troops? We aren't going to fight a conventional war with North Korea. That's long past. Anachronistic.

Firstly, as I've linked here over the past year, China changed its public policy on the reunification of Korea. Just over ten years ago China separated itself from military reunification and accepted only 'political' reunification. It's out there, read up!

Secondly, North Korea can be subdued with tactical strikes.

Seriously, North Korea has the military and economic umph of 1/2 of Vermont!

    Let us get real.

The troops stationed in South Korea at this very moment have not been there for decades

3-6 months is more like it

If or when war breaks out its too late for on the job training

Besidesthe concession is bad symbolism too

You are mistaken about north korea being a weak military

It is quite capable of inflicting great damage on the US, Japan and South Korea

This years is already over, it happens in the spring and if Kim doesn’t hold his part it will most certainly happen next spring. This is literally the best thing to give up, you got 9 to 10 months to see if he does what he promises. It’s a free carrot to dangle.

You just can't stand it can you have to stoop to demeaning the commanding job those sailors and Marines and aviators did when they resoundly accomplished their mission they were tasked to do. You choose to politicize their mission accomplished. How pitiful. And BTW please quote Bush in his speech that day saying the war was over and we had won. Quote him even uttering the words "mission accomplished".

You gotta feed and shelter and provide health care for your military let alone the parts and equipment. It seems NK is struggling to do so.

South Korea, perhaps. They'r brothers, that sucks.

A political pusy would engage conventionally. Be bold.

If Pyongyang is a nuclear threat, end it.

    One day, maybe two.

Don't let your mind play some silly game here. There is no conventional solution to a nuclear power threatening use!

The spring joint exercises, Eagle Foal and Key Resolve are complete, but iirc there is usually a large fall joint exercise also, so that one joint exercise was apparently given up for this year.

If results are unsatisfactory next spring, bring the joint exercises back, as you say.

Every day is a day of uncertainty. Even if an actual treaty were to be obtained and ratified in the senate, a treaty is just paper that holds sway temporarily, until it don't. But these pieces of paper keep the world turning, for awhile at least, possibly many decades.

Korea, the north, has zero power to inflict damage on the u.s. or Japan. It's working on it.

    Shall we wait?

I'm looking for that video with Obama singing the "If" song. I like Obama and voted for him, but that is so funny.
Which thread is it in, please?

I certainly knew he was the leader of NK. Most people I know know he is the leader of NK. They are making out like Trump let out a secret or something.

There was no reason to give it up at all

And it sets a benchmark that kim will always expect at the start any future negociations
