So I heard this this morning for the first time since 1996...
    and that was an ambulance down memory lane for me, so much so, that this happened/is sort of happening/in the process to perfect;

I guess it's all relative. I can take 80+, if we skip the humidity. Of course, a dip in the lake helps on the worst of days....

I'm not trying to promote religion. Heck, I'm atheist. It's just a great song. Sorry if I offended anyone.

"Oh Lord, I have made you a place in my heart
Among the rags and the bones and the dirt.
There's piles of lies, the love gone from her eyes,
And old moving boxes full of hurt.
Pull up a chair by the trouble and care.
I got whiskey, you're welcome to some.
Oh Lord, I have made you a place in my heart,
    But I don't reckon you're gonna come.

I've tried to fix up the place, I know it's a disgrace,
You get used to it after a while -
With the flood and the drought and old pals hanging out
With their IOU's and their smiles.
Bare naked women keep coming in
And they dance like you wouldn't believe.
Oh Lord, I have made you a place in my heart,
So take a good look - and then leave.

Oh Lord, why does the Fall get colder each year?
Lord, why can't I learn to love?
Lord, if you made me, it's easy to see
That you all make mistakes up above.
But if I open the door, you will know I'm poor
And my secrets are all that I own.
Oh Lord, I have made you a place in my heart
And I hope that you leave it alone."

Pat Benetar said Love was a battlefield. But I noticed there wasn't any women laying around in the war zone. [IMG]

Saying "Love is" is like saying "Emotions is". Love is not a single concept. There are many kinds of love. It can last a day or a lifetime or anything in between.

I'm still in love with Maureen Burns. She was in the 8th grade. I was in the 4th grade. :D It's funny but I still think of her from time to time. She was my first real infatuation. I don't remember how she looked but I can still remember how she made me feel when I looked at her.

When I fell hard for my Number One, I had never been so happy or miserable before in my life. It was a constant roller-coaster ride between agony and ecstasy. I was constantly aware that the day would come when she would leave. I knew I couldn't keep her. And that was a constant torture. But the time I had with her was truly like heaven on earth. I didn't know it was possible to be so happy.

    What a ride!

I will never forget this one morning not long after we first met, at a very nice Hotel, where we ate breakfast on the balcony. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. It was like being in a dream.

I take exception to that notion.Religion is the foundation or starting
point in the realization how our Creator endowed the human race with
special ability over and above all living things.Gifted with an Intellect
and especially Free Will.Powers no creature in the animal kingdom
can hope to match.Even our precious Pets { Dogs & Cats } who
God created for Human beings to enjoy and take care of.
Because Religion takes care or our inner self or Soul.
Thru virtue and morality,Religion guides us to a more humane
aspect of Creation.Without which we would appear little more than smaller
    versions of Dinosaurs.
God also helped humans create places of fun and leisure besides
places of worship.Such as Bars,Taverns and Pubs.
Not so sure about this hears pop stand,
be that as it May Ellen.

Pierre Corneille knew a thing or two.

"Leonor: Yet, Madame, considering your success

Your show of sadness runs now to excess.

Should love, that’s full for them of happiness,

Cause your noble heart this deep distress?

Why should the interest in them, I see,

Cause you unhappiness if they are happy?

But I presume: forgive my indiscretion.

Infanta: My sorrow has increased by being hidden.

Hear, hear how I have struggled, all is true,

Hear of the assaults against my virtue.

Love is a tyrant who spares none, I fear:

This young knight, this lover, aided here,

    I love."

Pierre Corneille, Le Cid, Act I, Act I Scene II (Infanta, Leonor, Page).

I can almost remember some 50 + years ago that song and
the Beatles British Invasion. - I Wanna Hold Your Hand - was
a huge hit when I was in like 5th grade. The Country was taken
by storm as if it dint know what hit them.
Of course the same thing occurred with Elvis.
But the Beatles were much bigger and overwhelming.
They also created a fashion statement with their long Mop hairdos.
Eventually there came to be 2 schools of thought regarding this type
of music. The Beatles OR The Dave Clark five.
I was a huge Dave Clark Five fan.
They eventually petered-out within a short timespan.
Whereas The Beatles keep cranking out great songs and albums
and even a couple nerdy nut likeable movies.
Then came The Monkees.Another likeable group with an
almost copycat rendering of the same.I could have done w/o their
dopey theatrics.Their songs were pretty good.
But again ... I preferred the likes of Paul Revere and the Raiders.

Hope everyone has been doing well lately. Came to the watering hole for my first beer in quite some time. I'll take a shot of your cheapest whiskey while you're at it.

My professional advice is the opposite.Consuming cheap beer
has always been an American staple even for those who could
easily afford a Lowenbrau or Heinekin.I now this as fact.
Those of my Parents age group and ilk { social strata } were
never shy about drinking a standard American Pilsner.
Whether a Stroh's or Blatz,Schltz or even an Iron City brewski.
    But consuming a cheap liquor { besides something like a Kessler }
was considered gauche. It was considered a bad sign.
The easiest example of a man's attempt at seeming formitable.
Most men of the post WW II Era almost prided themselves on
average American beers { mostly Pilsners }.
My Father was one of those. He had a true disdain towards
Beer snobs. He Lived to be around those who appreciated a good American
Pilsner.Which were everywhere in the 50's and 60's.
yet my old man was not one to tinker around with average
quality Whisky.Just the best he could get his paws on.
Today's Trendies are the opposite. They Live for Overtly overpriced
    and suspect Great Brews { in the $ 6 - $ 10 a 4-pack range. }
Most of those Brewski are Not All That.In fact many are Skunky.
Overly hopped and too strong.Actually not that pleasant to drink.
    I Know.Because I spent around 10 years being a Home Brewer.
I KNOW BEER and what it takes to make Beer.
I quit beer drinking around 12 years ago.Because I always appreciated
a good wine { mostly Red } and it's great appeal with food.
I was a Beer nut throughout college and even after.I was among the
first to try and then regularly use Miller Light back in the mid-70.s
Of course in college I was turned on to Coors { which was THE BEST
    beer nationwide } for many a year.Hamm's,Rolling Rock,Lone Star,
With a ton of likely competitors like Stroh's,Schlitz,Schaefer,
Ballantines ' { a favorite of mine in college } and Olympia.
Plus many, many reginals like Old Style and Heileman and
    Genesee and Duquesne { another favorite when I could find }
