Another Conservative on the SCOTUS is the left's worst nightmare. Then there's Ruth "Buzzie" Ginsberg, can she last till 2024?
Invalid thread format, but no worries. Thanks for the news. Seems like a decent man, but I follow the McConell rule.. no supreme court voting in an election year.
Cool, does that mean Trump can replace Kagan? Begs the bigger queation, are you qualified to vote on Kavanaugh?
I suppose for the most SCOTUS nominations has always been politicized since John Adams midnight appointments. But since the nomination and rejection of Bork, appointments to the SCOTUS have been nothing more that all politics and no substance. I don't believe either side when it comes to these types of battles. Although this battle might be just what the Republicans need to put a damper on what has looked as the upcoming blue wave. How will red state Democrats Heitkamp, Manchin, Tester, McCaskill, Donnelly vote or come down on this? Since the House has no dealings with SCOTUS nominations, I don't expect any change there. Then there is Collins and Murkowski, how will they vote? In other words, will those five Democratic senators and Republican Collins and Murkowski represent the people of their state, go with or vote the wishes and wants of the people of their state or tell the folks who sent them to Washington in the first place to go eat sand, that their loyalty is only to party and not to the people of their state. That is what interests me. That and how this could vastly change the dynamics of the November midterm elections. This battle could end up being the boost the GOP needed to hold down their loses in the house and gain seats, not lose seats in the senate. The way I see this, even if the democrats win this one. Far from certain, Kavanaugh is rejected. Trump and the Republicans will win in the long run as they could gain five additional seats in the senate and Trump's next nominee if the Democrats are successful in this, has easy sailings next year. Trump could nominate the most far out right wing wacko then. Interesting. This fight in my eyes is a lose, lose proposition for the democrats in the senate even if they win this battle.
I am not concerned with the same sex "marriage" deal because in my opinion same sex unions are illogical. My concern is that Kavanaugh may be of the opinion that a POTUS is above the law. No POTUS should be above the law. Supporting a choice for the SUPREMES should never be on one issue.
Not with the Election of America's ONLY Non-politician in modern history.Donald Trump talked tough but very plain and in the most American of ways while a candidate. He is governing in even more realistic and Ameican of ways.Undoing all the Big Brother ways of Obama. This country was founded on the Notions of Liberty, Justice and the Pursuit of Happiness. Not what makes some Chicago Community Activist and his authoritarian,name-calling,power mad Party { The new Democrat Party }. Trump is draining that D.C. swamp. And doing it his way. Even if means having Democrat roadblocks along the way. Every major city.Trump also is not taking a salary. He is also working 24/7 not out on the links every few days like Obama the Slacker.Plus Obama the Sneak was fundraising the nights away ... Not with the Hoi polloi but with the Wealthy. While during the day attacking those rascally wealthy { 1 % } as un-American and Unwelcome. Talk about the Pot calling the kettle black. Obama being the biggest troublemaking fraud in American history. It's Proveable.Americans had to live it in order to feel it. There is no debate about it.
You mean like the Chicken Little attitude Republicans had throughout the Obama years? Haha, there you go, still making ridiculous claims about the “end of democracy” under Obama, yet here we are. Republicans did plenty of posturing with Obama’s picks, too. We’ll see how this plays out. Settle down, the sky is not falling.
Nor should anyone take those things lightly. I'm not thrilled with this pick, either - it look like we're gong to wind up with another Roberts or Kennedy on the bench. I guess that's better than another Ginsburg but it's nothing to get overly excited about. I guess we're going to find out. I like some of the things he said in his speech about sticking to the Constitution and the language in the laws he'll be adjudicating. The willingness to ignore and rewrite laws in order to uphold them has been one of my greatest criticisms of this Court.
LOL, and they call him the extremist. I would be so embarrassed if I was a democrat. I'd have to do what a lot of democrats have done and quietly step to the right.
It's not a presidential election year. Nice cry though. If Ginsberg quits or expires in 2020 then you can follow McConnell's rule.
Do you think Congress will turn blue? Another big blue wave like 2016? What's the democrats' message again?
Once again you are factually incorrect. Mitch the Rino was very clear. He did not say in an election year he said in a presidential election year. Please be more on honest and accurate about his words.
