I recall when Phil showed me Sonny Bargers house in Oakland. Phil later hung himself in a special way. Took a rope, hold on, gets better ... at his front door, ties end of rope to knob, walks a few feet to his sofa. Lays on the sofa with noose about his neck. And it worked. He managed to die on his sofa. He was one of my friends. His wife called me the next day to tell me what he did. I had contractors repair the home to sell it and got top dollar for it. It was a nice piece of land with a view over the SF Bay area. A nice inlaw unit below. I was in shock he had done this.

I've never heard of inspections by firefighters and I would be concerned that this could be a scam way to case out the properties. I think the home owners were being proactive and I commend them for it.

They should be proactive even when someone is black.

I would suggest that when someone knocks on your door, dressed in a uniform. Asking to look around your property...check out their story first by making a phone call and asking for ID would be commensense.
