    So, the liberal NYT is mocking gays now?

    I thought mocking gays was verboten?

    When will ALL the gay rights groups protest the NYT and call for this cartoon that mocks gays to be pulled?

    The many gay men and women who work for the NYT should denounce this use of gay sexuality as a crude political slur unless they loath themselves and their lifestyle.

    No - it is mocking him by saying he is so close to Putin that they must be lovers. Gay only comes into it because they are both men.

    If he had a close relationship with Angela Merkel or Teresa May you could run a similar cartoon, but obviously they wouldn't be gay.

    If the NYT just wanted to insult Trump by insinuating he was gay (which would be a ridiculous insinuation), Putin would not have been in the picture.

    The whole point is to show that the two of them are close. So close, in fact, that the only rational explanation for how close they are is that they must be lovers.

    It is mocking how close he is to Putin.
