While President Trump has faced widespread backlash from Republicans and Democrats alike over his performance at the Helsinki Summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin—not everyone was displeased.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), in fact, liked much of what Trump had to say.

“It’s gotten so ridiculous that someone has to stand up and say we should try to engage even our adversaries and open up our lines of communication,” Paul, who’s set to travel to Russia next month to continue talks, told Politico. "We’re going to talk to the president about some small steps in order to try to thaw the relations between our countries.”

He brushed aside criticism Trump received from within the GOP as nothing more than “Trump derangement syndrome.”

“Republicans that are making the criticism are either the pro-war Republicans like (Sen. John) McCain and (Sen. Lindsey) Graham or the anti-Trump ones like (Sen. Ben) Sasse,” he said. “They are motivated by their persistent and consistent dislike of the president.”....snip~

Imagine that......who would have thought Rand Paul would jump out there and stick up for Trump. That aught to put the leftness into more of their desperate frenzy.

A mega-conservative defends his unquestioned leader?? Not sure that will add to the "desperate frenzy"...

    LMAO

Find me another defender in the Senate.... and that will bring the grand total nationally to 4 (Paul, Hannity, Pence, and ??)

I'm not sure why Paul would be defending trump, obviously for political reasons. I mean, sure we should try to engage our adversaries. But they ARE adversaries.

How about a president of the US of A going to Putin and telling him,

"You interfered in our elections. You know it and I know it, beyond any doubt whatsoever. You want relations to thaw? You want things to get better? Then back the **** off and NEVER do it again, or there will be hell to pay. Personal sanctions. On you, your family, your friends, your friends' friends. Hell, your cook's second cousin will get sanctioned. And that will be just the start.
So in case I didn't make myself perfectly clear BACK THE **** OFF AND DON'T DO IT AGAIN!
I've said what I came to say. When you do what I've told you to do, we will have better relations.
Now **** off and think about what I said. This meeting is over.
    "

I just re-read that. I know - it is hard to imagine Trump being alpha like that.

Nahh.... too much... you are expecting that from the man who fired his secretary of state over Twitter??

10 simple words, then stop talking (both impossible to imagine from Trump) - Also, no qualifiers like 'Obama didn't do this' or 'Where's the server'

"I fully support the conclusions of the US Intelligence community."

That's all he needed to say... To Putin, looking him in the eye...

Win for Trump... Hell, he didn't even need to MEAN it....

It's a reasonable position for Paul to take. I don't have a problem with that.

As for the Lefties who are in Full Aneurysm Mode (as usual), they had no problem dropping their panties for the "Death to America!" crowd in Tehran so they've got no problem talking to our enemies, unless they're being scapegoated for the Democrats' most recent face plant at the polls. Then and only then is it a problem.

During the Cold War, Libs said we should not confront the Soviets; we should talk with them.

Now Libs are saying we shouldn't talk with Russia. We should confront them.

    Why the change?

It's one thing to meet with foreign govts. and their leaders to thaw relations but it's another to berate your country while doing it.

It is actually more simple than you think. Paul is essentially a libertarian wearing a GOP frock. He's long been on record for world peace and less meddling in world affairs.

Rand Paul isn't a warmonger and he puts AMERICA FIRST! Our constant war footing, and much of our interventionism is State Department and Defense Department driven, grows the Central State beyond accountability, empties our national coffers and drains our civil Liberties. Even Presidential campaigns and spied on, they try to fix elections and then drive OUR choice from office, who did you think a Patriot like Ron :paul was going to side with, our crooked corrupt intelligence agencies or the Choice of the Electorate?

Don't you think there's a huge chasm between engaging them and what trump did? Be honest.

Yep, he did single out those Never Trumpers including the Neo Cons/Demos in disguise.

Tell that to the Bruthas in the hood. That's where I got it from. Explain that out to them if you can. But I doubt you know they use it as a slur.
