At least I said more than the clown I was responding to...
    Not in that post.
<yawn> You are as bad as james M, claiming other members are "afraid" to respond when they have just done so. And that is saying something.

This shows just how ludicrous the USA has become on taxation. The rich should be getting pounded. The only thing that stops them is the FAR right and others that support the rich for handouts at a later date. Plus the uneducated in this country that fall for the propaganda the rich spew to lower their tax. They used TRUMP this time to do their dirty work. Trailer Trash and pundit christians fell for it AGAIN, as they did under Reagan and Bush.

Nothing more to say about it. Bernie, goes to far the other way. Set it to 1970 standard and it will be good. Simple !

Great post, and nothing wrong with helping people. 95% agree, problem is, 30% of that 95% believe the rich when they say they are working on it. Same thing going back to Reagan. Then there is another .005% that will post here, maybe paid to preach, not sure. But why would someone that makes 60K, 150K, or even 250K feel like they are part of the upper class and write as if so ? Do they not understand they are NEXT, the billionaires are coming for their money.

Some young kid, cloths hanging off, looked poor, broke, dirty, and as if he could steal drove up to my house in a POS car yesterday to drop off an Amazon package. I cant buy from them again because of this... Bezos made another dollar off of cutting that guys pay to 8 bucks vs a real driver at 25$.

It is off the charts and will take the next 20 years to work thru. Everyone has to hit rock bottom first. Or as here, when the Hurricane hits, 90% are not ready. I always am and it doesnt take much work, most dont have the funds to prepare.

The idea that marginal changes in taxes, particularly with dodge and evade, is sufficient to deliver equity criteria really isn't credible.

Well, that one you must explain.

I don't think the super-rich give a damn about the mediocre-rich. Except thinking how, when, where, why they might be able to profit from a business-venture together.

And, as I never stop saying: If there is anything worth learning about Europe its richest-class, it is that they are a useless lot in general who will simply perpetuate their status until they die and pass the money on to their next-of-kin.

Which is why Upper-income Taxation at a maximum-rate (100% beyond some maximum revenue of, say, 2 megabucks per year) is an absolute necessity for the US and its ultimate survival as a "Fair and Equitable Country in which one is proud to live".

Because that is not at all the condition to day, when Income Disparity is rampant across the nation ...

PS: Do you really want any of Donald Dork's children trying to be "President like daddy was"? (Why do you think the Bush family tried it for a third time? Because these people are sooooo rich they can think of nothing better to do than all having coffee in the Oval Office together. Family Picture included!)

I think the Billionaires via default, lets use Bezos deliberately STEAL money. What he does is constantly cut the costs of his workers. This in itself takes back from the very buyers of the products. Slowly forcing them to where they cant buy at all. That is the end game, so to speak. In the 40s - 80s we taxed him heavily, and cut payroll tax. The money taxed from the rich filtered back thru the states and to the working class in JOBS.

Carl Icahn is always using his MONEY, billions to leverage against the working class. It should be stopped but isnt because he has the politicians in his pocket. THen guys like him and the brothers Grimm oil magnates use their money to change regulations that they pass off as CREATING jobs. Worthless part time jobs, or low paying jobs. Once they have every worker at 40K or less, who is left for them to take from ?

The 250K a year guy, they will hit them in a different manner, telling the politician and working class that these people make too much and it isnt fair. "THEY" wont be out front, in fact, they will move the residency out of this country, maybe Israel... Israel would allow any Jew to use them as a home country while living in the USA 90% time, they would force our politicians to accept it via a new law. Then they can tap the 100K - 1M a year worker at 70% tax.

One way or another they will do whatever it takes to STEAL all the money. There is no end game for these guys, they never have enough. Icahn lives each day to take others money, that is his goal and he has done it for 70 years.

Only thing we can do as 60K a year people is twist our own lives to ensure our kids are safe, guns wont do it if you have to sell it to eat. Our problem is the stupidity down here at the worker class level.

But, who elected those politicians. Not just him.

    We did.

If you don't like the strategic lay-of-the-political-land, and I DO NOT, then change it!

Get your act together and go for the Whole Hog. That is:
*Taxation that reverts to where it was before JFK (yes, JFK!) started taking it down.
*Fix a maximum income tax at some very high level. With any luck, the billionaires will high-tail it to somewhere else. And stop polluting our political system!
*Free Tertiary Education so that the poorest people can get a decent education - opening their minds to a higher level of both connaissance (knowledge) and understanding. That's how we build a better world for both us and our children.
*Free National Health Care so that we can all live longer and enjoy our lives doing so.
*Open the political process by getting neutering the Electoral College, outlaw gerrymandering. Each state has representatives uniquely as function of population head-count; and Two-party System that no longer exists anyway since nearly half of American voters are Independent will make room for diversity.
*Terms in the HofR and the Senate will be restricted to a total of 12-years. Which is how we keep the political process free from dominance of any one clique.
*Any position for elected political office must show an honest timeline of a person's life and their income/wealth status.
*Put an end to unlimited political donations, by putting an upper-limit on them ($15K per voting age individual) - and all political donations are tax-deductible.

And there are probably other criteria that our democratic-republic could adopt.

    You tell me ... !

First of course is to go back to our Founders concept of democracy which means only those qualified to vote get to vote. According to modern Democrats anyone is qualified to do brain surgery and to vote, in the interest of equality, I guess! It's beyond absurd but perfectly liberal.

Under Republican capitalism theft or stealing is illegal. If Bezos steals from you you can call the police. Do you understand? I personally love the guy for the low prices, huge selection, and huge convenience. Do you understand.

better to tax the lower classes since they don't make the contribution to society that the rich do when they employ millions and invent new products.

Also, if the govt taxes from the rich it impedes their ability to employ millions and invent new products, plus govt will only waste the money on anti poverty measures that will only makes things worse as we have already seen.

There are certainly fairness issues created by trade. Of course that gives no excuse for state stupidity like Trump's protectionism. See, for example, a comparison of trade and inequality from Germany.

Trumps attempts to establish free trade are superior to Obama's attempts to hide under his desk.

Trump goes for a trade war, but that's about free trade? Crikey, you might as well give up.

They also lack innovation, research and development, inventions, entrepreneurs... and they also lack the ability to keep more of the fruits of their labor, allowing them to dictate priorities for spending in the fashion that best serves their needs and desires. Instead, they give that authority to the government, paying for economic security with financial freedoms.

Things format is always a means of supporting those that failed to support themselves. The people give up their economic freedoms and opportunities for national growth for the benefit of the less fortunate and poor decision makers.

It's a collectivist concept, that betrays the fundamentals of individual liberty in the name of social constructs. It is contrary to the fundamental principles this nation was founded upon and principles largely responsible for our economic superiority in just a few hundred years.

I believe that individual economic freedom leads to the best conditions for all, not collectivism.

Economics just is. There isn't supposed to be any fairness about it.

Ask the people in Communist China if their economics have any fairness. Economics just is.

The early bird gets the worm and the hardworking birds continue to eat, and even have to support all the useless eaters.

    It ain't fair.

    This is non-sense.

The world ALREADY was instituting tariffs and trade policies which made the markets unfair to the united states.

Saying that a response is opposite the desire to encourage free trade is ridiculously dishonest.

We want protectionism for our critical or politically expedient industries. (vote winners in key states, food, military, power etc).

And we want free access into every one else's markets.

If we like small government.we also want free access for as much as possible in our own.

Reality isn't your chum. First, they tend to have higher self employment rates. Second, they have lower working poverty rates (with also the promise of greater statutory pensions)
