Around 520,000 South Koreans signed a petition against their government’s refugee friendly migration policy. Most of them are worried about Muslim refugees from Yemen and economic exploitation by migrants, DW news reports.
“It has become really bad in recent weeks and it is all because Jeju introduced a program that enabled people from 186 countries to come here without a tourist visa,” says Hank Kim, owner of the Core Travel Agency.
Kim continues: “Local people here are worried, we have all read about the problems that immigrants have caused in Europe — in Germany and France in particular — and we do not want that to happen here.”
There was also a protest in Seoul’s City Hall against the visa-waiver program in which hundreds of people participated. “We urge the government to put Korean citizens before refugees,” a rally organiser says.
“We are not against all refugees. But we should not accept foreigners who try to exploit the policy as a means of seeking economic interests and dodging the draft in their countries,” he adds.
Hank Kim, the travel agency owner says:
“We are also worried because of their religion. We have had no contact with Muslim people before, but we know that they all have big families and they bring their own culture instead of trying to adapt to the place where they live..”
The unrest was caused by 1,000 Yemeni refugees using the visa programme to enter South Korea’s Jeju resort island.

I'm surprised Korea is even considering this. There are a lot of people crowded into the high cost of living Seoul area.
More people cramming into that area is not going to be good. A lot of Korean families are already under a lot of financial pressure and competition. Yes, the overall standard of living isn't too bad, but it's not the easier low-pressure life that it is in America. Korean families really have to fight and struggle trying to maintain that the standard of living they have.

Ask yourself why so many Koreans have left their country and immigrated to the U.S.

Nearly half Korea's population lives in Seoul, because the better job opportunities are very concentrated.

Now, if you're going to have refugees pouring into Seoul, and that's where they'll go because that's where all the menial jobs are located, where there's a relative shortage of labor due to the higher cost of housing, they'll be packing 10 people in per apartment, and work for lower wages, and a lot of other Koreans in the lower level jobs won't be able to afford to live there.

Korea has a big problem because even though the majority of its population is highly educated, there are not enough upper level jobs for all of them, so many educated people have to work in lower levels jobs (the type that don't traditionally require education).

So I predict this could lead to housing crisis issues in the capital, and lead to a wave of unemployment in the rest of the country if the next generation growing up in the capital get pushed out and start pouring out to the secondary cities.

Korea is also very socially homogenous, and (if things changed) would experience a lot of social problems they've never dealt with before.
I talked to an old Korean lady and she told me that although she grew up in a village where everyone was dirt poor, there was never any crime in her town. Try picturing that in many other parts of the world, it would be unimaginable.

I don't think that they were ever considering more than just that one single arrival.

Ouch, what a condemnation on Europe's practices.

I think its very telling that Muslims are trying to escape the messed up nations they created, why anyone would want them to do the same to their nation is confusing.

The Christian/Jewish west created their messed up nations.

The article of the OP is about Jemen. And the US supports the violent oppression of a minority there, that includes starvation. The US bombed Iraq for no reason at all into the stone age. And ISIS was able to spawn there due to the deliberately created chaos by the US. That branched out to Syria. The US also supports the violent acts of the dictator of Egypt, who banned the "opposition" to take the power back. The US backed up that genocidal Saddam Hussein when he was gassing his own people and Iran. The US made a coup against Iran, who had a peaceful democratically elected government in them days.

But lets blame Muslims for the fact that the US has an utterly violent foreign governmental policy that even supports terror when it makes them a profit.

NOTHING Islamic "dates back to the time of Jesus".

The pedophile, bloodthirsty, mayor of Medina wasn't even born until about SIX CENTURIES LATER....nor was his cult.

South Korea already has had hundreds of thousands of people from their population leaving over the last few decades for economic reasons. They're not desperately poor, of course, but it's not first notch either.

Is their country and economy really going to be able to take on an influx of refugees?

And what happens if the wall with North Korea ever comes down? You're going to have millions of North Koreans migrating to the economically more prosperous South.
If South Korea ever gets their long-time wish and the two Koreas someday become united, they're going to have their hands full of refugees to deal with.

Northern Asians are very intelligent people who have not been subjected to a generation of leftist propaganda directed against them. Why would any culture choose to replace themselves? 'Asian guilt' doesn't exist......

Danish prosecutors charge imam for calling for the killing of Jews

One small wrinkle: He was reading to his congregation from Islamic holy scripture.
