God, I am watching the interview with Tia Coleman - the woman who lost her husband, three children, and 5 other relatives. I've never had this impulse before but I want to hug her. So heartbreaking.
Well, Missouri is a red state … which, of course, means that it's basically a little third-world country...
No, Missouri is majority White..........most all third world countries are primarily black or brown......but you already knew that........
I have seen those Ducks around Branson. One expects the tourist firm does carry insurance. I have been to that lake too. I was in Branson last in 2001 and one day they had one hell of a thunderstorm. I tend to think the Ducks stayed off the lake that time. Branson is to be complimented on traffic control. They have routes you can use called names of various colors as I remember. So learn their routes if you plan to go there.
True but MO has twice as many blacks as CA has by percentage. We have only 6.5 percent and they have a higher percent than we have. But in most of MO you may go a month and not see any blacks. Here when i go shopping and i am in CA, I seldom see a black person. I do see many Chinese though. But those are smart people. They do annoy me in stores though. They love to park their cart in the aisle and stand idly thinking things over. They are notorious for blocking aisles here. But back to MO/ https://archive.oa.mo.gov/bp/pdffiles/PercentBlackPop.pdf
Ah, so it's it a conspiracy to make money. All she had to do was lose 9 family members, including her three children and husband. She has to pay for at least four funerals and burials. And she may or may not be able to support herself even when she is able to try to get back to life.
How did "we " get into race? Hey, I thought it was those liberal guys who always get us into race. What happened here ?
Triggered are you? All I did was state facts........how you respond to those facts is a 'you' problem. Here's another fact........no one in my family has ever asked someone else to pay for a funeral........and few had the money to go on extravagant vacations with 10-20 relatives.........
So you deny your intent was as I responded and then go on to compare your family to hers. Gee, that isn't disingenuous is it! LOL! Did you ever lose everyone and your means of support? And you don't suppose they all were paying for it? And she should get to work tomorrow. No slackers. One dead family is no excuse!!! A duck boat ride in Branson Missouri - the height of elite vacations. Why in the hell did I ever go to Hawaii or Europe? Helicopter tours and elite hotels at the top of the Swiss Alps, what a waste! I could have gone to Branson! Maybe trump should spend more time there in an elite duck house. Branson is where poor people go.
Happy for you that you git to go on all those extravagant vacations........you could probably pay for all these funerals your own bad self........and get rid of some of your White guilt at the same time...... a win/win situation
If my family wants a duck boat tour, but there is an approaching thunder storm and the employees tell us before we go to NOT put on life preservers, I might just pass and take my family off the boat.
heres some of the victoms are they democrats? heres the captain union man http://www.abc6.com/story/38695097/captain-of-fatal-duck-boat-accident-lived-in-ri-worked-for-ripta
is thier a pattern here as a investager would say can you see the lack of saftey with these folks as they are just winging it
It was the canopy and sides that made it a death trap. There is NO reason to "ban" those old WW2 "ducks." Boats and ships of all sizes have sunk, burned, and blow up. For the second time, a LARGE boat we've ridden on in to a past that carries people to an offshore casino boat had an explosion, killing a few people. Such is the nature of ALL boats and ship, just like car, train and aircraft crashing will happen now and then. There have been "duck rides" all over USA for over half a century. Millions have ridden on them. It is 100% predictable that some Democrats would demand they be banned because Democrats want everything people enjoy banned. Some would ban leaving your home without a government permission slip.
Tourist area employees tend to be young, lowly paid and on such as duck rides depend upon tips. The answer is always the same about safety: TRAINING and INSPECTION. Enclosed boats with no easy way out are inherently death traps - something they learned about buses decades ago. There MUST be FAST ways to get out - aircraft, buses, vehicles, boats.
It is a tourist area and something to do. They usually make the ride (on land) somewhat exciting and incorporate tourist info about the area, tell some good clean jokes and usually it is families with kids that want to ride on the ducks. Wisconsin Dells, WI has had Duck Rides for over 6 decades as example. Duck rides are a mild adventure for little children too young and older people too old for more demanding rides. Its something to do. What is the attraction of a roller coaster? What is the attraction of anything?
70 deaths in over 6 decades of usage all over the USA and millions of passengers. A few of those were traffic accidents. Care to compare that to auto accident deaths over the same period of time. There is nothing inherently dangerous about amphibious vehicles, only dangerous operation of them.
They are NOT top heavy. Rather, having flat bottoms and a high weight to flotation ratio, they are not suited from anything but calm water. Their design also means they can sink extremely fast and if enclosed escape is not possible for how fast they can sink. Minor alterations to the shape could increase their safety factors many times over. Raise the sides. A splash guard on the bow. Adding flotation to the floor with a sunken walkway for seating, raising seating a foot. Prohibiting their usage on public roadways. Most important, requiring greater Coast Guard approved training.
I guess. I'd rather watch paint dry. Maybe there's some historic/nostalgic/militaria appeal to tooling around in an original DUKW, but it's my understanding that the ones in Branson are replicas that have been stretched to fit more tourists. Anyway, I would imagine lawyers and plaintiffs are lined up around the block for a piece of 'Ride The Ducks', so if the industry has any hopes of surviving, owners are probably going to have to get real serious about safety.
