WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Accused Russian agent Maria Butina had wider high-level contacts in Washington than previously known, taking part in 2015 meetings between a visiting Russian official and two senior officials at the U.S. Federal Reserve and Treasury Department.

The meetings, revealed by several people familiar with the sessions and a report from a Washington think tank that arranged them, involved Stanley Fischer, Fed vice chairman at the time, and Nathan Sheets, then Treasury undersecretary for international affairs.

Butina traveled to the United States in April 2015 with Alexander Torshin, then the Russian Central Bank deputy governor, and they took part in separate meetings with Fischer and Sheets to discuss U.S.-Russian economic relations during Democratic former President Barack Obama's administration.

The two meetings, which have not been previously reported, reveal a wider circle of high-powered connections that Butina sought to cultivate with American political leaders and special interest groups.

The meetings with Fischer and Sheets were arranged by the Center for the National Interest, a Washington foreign policy think tank that often advocates pro-Russia views.

The meetings were documented in a Center for the National Interest report seen by Reuters that outlined its Russia-related activities from 2013 to 2015. The report described the meetings as helping bring together "leading figures from the financial institutions of the United States and Russia."

Now this Uranium One deal is funny because the same people who believe this BS -- are the same people who are outraged about the steele dossier being used as evidence against Trump -- but they don't mind this whole Uranium One conspiracy being completely lifted from Clinton Cash -- a book by a partisan hack

What is even worse is that among the news agencies that debunked Uranium One, one of them was Fox News themselves.

Also, there is ZERO evidence that any uranium went to Russia -- neither can Trump supporters produce any evidence supporting that claim --- and...a change in company ownership doesn’t mean that 10 to 20 percent of America’s uranium literally went to Russia. Neither Uranium One nor ARMZ (Rosatom’s mining subsidiary) is licensed to export uranium from the U.S. to other countries.

Now, a question for the Trump lovers --- If Uranium One is such an evil company and the merger is corrupt and a threat to the free world -- Trump is president now, they can easily void the deal and sanction all of the companies involved...and you Trump lovers should be banging the drums to make that happen -- but you are not, because you are full of crap.

Obama's reasoning at the time for not sending arms is because he didn't feel the Ukrainians could win a war with Russia without US troops being involved, you can agree or not with that assessment -- but even one of the think tanks who were pushing for arming the Ukraine said:
"No one really doubts that Putin can prevail in this fight," The think-tank report concedes, "Even with enormous support from the West, the Ukrainian army will not be able to defeat a determined attack by the Russian military."

While I am glad Trump lovers are finally admitting that Russia didn't just "meddle" in our elections -- they launched a full attack on our elections -- It was Obama's watch, so I hold him and his intelligence agencies responsible for failing to stop them -- just like I am sure you Trump lovers hold Bush and his intelligence agencies responsible for failing to stop 9/11...which is also why you Trump lovers were not opposed to the HUGE spending increases in the name of security due to fears from another 9/11 attack -- and if democrats ever had voted to cut funding or zero out funding for any agency responsible for national security, you trump lovers would rightfully call that treasonous...

9 different agencies approved the sale, the term for these nine agencies is called CFIUS, ever heard of it? --- Clinton wasn't one of those involved with granting approval -- let me know when you have evidence saying otherwise -- Trump is president now, so if there is evidence of it, it is in his power to find it..

As for the millions donated by NOT RUSSIANS but by a Canadian named Frank Giustra, the founder of Uranium One (I know, they are our enemy too) -- furthermore, he sold off his entire stake in the company in 2007, three years before the Russia deal and at least 18 months before Clinton became secretary of state -- maybe he could read the future and he knew that Hillary would lose the election, become Sec of State, bypass the 9 agencies and approve the deal herself..

Does it bother you that the Russian govt funneled millions of dollars thru the NRA directly into the campaigns of many GOP campaigns? or do you only care if you mistakenly believe democrats did it?
