No way Kavanaigh is getting confirmed without an FBI investigation.

For a couple of years. The alt right are going to go ballistic beginning the day after the 2020 elections that returns a sweep of blue wh, senate, and house, with the red gop looking through the windows from outside. :roflol:

She is a political pawn that was used by DIFI and the other D's. I hope like heck that all Republican's, moderate independents and Kennedy democrats will spurn these liberal zealots and vote conservative in the mid terms

The absence of a conviction does not make someone absolutely innocent. Sometimes it just means the swamp creatures won or the system failed us. Is Bill Clinton absolutely innocent? OJ Simpson? Like I said in my original post I am not absolutely sure one way or the other. Ford's testimony was very passionate and seemed credible to me. Kavanaugh response seemed suspect. IMHO I think the best thing for President Trump and republicans is to select another conservative justice to replace him. There still will be a conservative judge so it is still a win.

The United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary has the power to investigate and has an ample number of Investigators. Let them do thier job.

The FBI isn't needed nor does it have the authority to question Dr Ford. There's no articulable federal crime to investigate. This is a political tribunal, let's leave the FBI out of politics, it tarnishes them, the last thing they need now.

Porcine faced, shouty, rapey manboys make a MAGA heart beat proudly.

    It's hardly news, though.

Sounds awfully suspicious to me; just because they can do it doesn't mean they have to. What's the rush to get his appointment confirmed, there are no constitutional crisis going on at the present time which would require a full roster of judges. Wouldn't it make sense to have him sworn in without having a cloud over his head for the rest of his career?

I watched this in the company of two liberal Vermont women and one 35 yo male friend visiting from Maine, liberal leaning but a working man, street smart.

I didn't intend to watch the hearing but as I was casually following it here and one other site with my tablet my guests turned on the hearing just as Kavanaugh started. The intent was to watch a movie on Netflix, everyone chiming in about what they wanted to see, romantic comedy, action etc. (...) The TV powerd up and Kavanaugh was front and center, just starting. We mumbled about a movie for maybe a minute, maybe just :30 seconds but that ended. We were all pulled in by Kavanaugh's raw emotion. Hours went by, we watched it all.

I'm current with the entire nomination issues so I was sympathetic and energized by Kavanaugh's testimony. I don't talk deeply about politics with my 'crunchy' granola eating friends, but today thier emotions followed mine as we watched. My two lady friends were vocal in thier sense of unfairness with the proceeding. "Wow", "Are you serious?", "Feinstein needs to retire." They cringed at the cold insinuating questioning from the Democrats and moaned as Kavanaugh was painted as a drunk failure.

We all cheered when Kavanaugh said: "Yes, I drink beer. I like beer. Do you like beer?" He followed that with a recitation of his academic record, his sports involvement, his community involvement. Hovering at first to third in his class, he named the three academic peers. Captain of the Basketball team. Starter on the football team. This resonated with my friends. One has two advanced degrees, MEd and PsyD, for 12 years was curriculum director for all Vermont public schools. The other a nurse, MSN from Johns Hopkins.

"F***, he's makkng a great point." "Ya' can't get where he is by deviating from the path, not once.", "he's absolutely right, I've been there."

It was an interesting evening. Couple of liberal chicks, a Mainer all drinking Long Trail Double Bag and cheering for Brett Kavanaugh because he likes beer.

    Cheers

Anecdotal, yes, but I believe it. I saw conservatives yesterday siding with Ford and finding K's tears inappropriate.

It's really not. They can talk to witnesses and check for corroborating evidence. For example Ford says she later saw Judge at a Safeway and had an awkward exchange of some kind. Investigation shows that Judge did work as a bagger there. That's at least some corroboration against mistaken identity. On it's own it's not much, but when you put a lot of small details together you can get a bigger picture of circumstantial evidence. That's how investigation works, not the fake crap republicans pull, only talking to these two and making it his word against hers only.

Yup, it is. The ABA has withdrawn its recommendation of the administration's choice for SCOTUS.

Yeah, it is a big deal. Collins, Murkowski, and Flake are now waffling.

    OP

Even if the FBI does come up with something (highly unlikely after all this time of course, and given the privacy of the circumstances), don't you have a Statute of Limitations there, which by now will be well and truly expired? So why go to the bother and expense of the investigation when it'll be thrown out of court on the first day of the trial? [IMG]

The ABA has nothing to do with professional wafflers waffling.

The wafflers are being intimidated by mobs of lunatics.

You can have an extensive on after he's confirmed. SCOTUS justices are impeachable.

Does it help to know that now Collins, Murkowski, Corker, and Flake are wobbling?

Today's vote is to move the nomination to the full Senate.

If one more accuser comes out, the whole thing will grind to a halt.

Gee...he actually took his kids there to watch this event? Huh? Further, what is the complaint concerning delay? So what. Is there some urgency? If so...what is the urgency?

The urgency is, that with Blue Wave mounting higher every day, that K be confirmed before the Senate end up with an unworkable majority of 0 or 1 Senate seat in the next term.

Not full investigations of these charges, no, K has not had one of them.

Now Collins, Murkowski, Flake, and Corker are wobbling.
