Um, do the math. They will have to get a 60 vote majority. Unless the blue wave is HUGE, like a tsunami, they will NOT be able to change it back, because a simple majority will be changed from a 51 to a 60 vote requirement.

I wasn't including Trump in that club ?

The club that Trump shares with Clinton is the "witch hunt" club. I was against the way Starr abused his power and am against the way Mueller is abusing his power a la "fruit of the poisoned tree".

Starr was not a witch hunt.

Of course it was. The relationship with Monica was consensual - that was never in question. Questions related to abuse of power - was they by definition - a witch hunt as was the various coercion tactics.

Clinton admitted an "inappropriate relationship" - there was no justification for going into private details of a consensual sexual encounter. The purpose was simply to embarrass the defendant. "How many inches of the cigar did you insert into the oval orifice" ... give me a break. Such questions should never been allowed and Clinton had every right to keep such details private.

    Starr was a clown show.

Given that the thing with Lewinsky made President Clinton potentially vulnerable to blackmail whatever he did in private consensual or not was a public issue.

I don't have a problem with his affair, that is their personal business. However, they did it in the white house on OUR property and on OUR time, and then lied about it. Also, he and HILLARY went after the women who would not have anything to do with Bill, and smeared their names. That is why I laugh at the democrats. The voted for and supported Hillary for president KNOWING that this had been done. hahahahaha, now they MANUFACTURE indignation against Kavanaugh . I have brought it up to a few liberals here, and their reaction and indignation (manufactured) is fun to watch. They got checkmated!! (big huge smile on my face). Want to have fun, call em on it!!!

They are for sexual harassment when they are agin it!!!!

I do not know that I agree with you on this but regardless.... the number of inches of cigar that Bill inserted into Monica's oval orifice was completely irrelevant. These type of questions should never have been allowed.

Look - its all the same crap. Bill admitted an inappropriate relationship occurred in the Oval Office. Monica stated quite clearly that everything they did was consensual.

What relevance then is it how many inches of cigar Slick Willy inserted into Monica's oval orifice ? This was just an attempt to embarrass Clinton. These questions should never have been allowed. That is where the lie came into play - Fruit of the poisoned tree.

Just like Mueller's witch hunt. Same fruit of the poisoned tree. What does Manafort's tax fraud over a decade ago have to do with "Russian Collusion" in the 2016 election ? ZERO.

The special prosecutor is given expansive powers - powers to violate constitutionally protected essential liberty. He is given these powers "ONLY" for the purpose stated - in this case Russian Collusion.

Mueller was not given these powers to go after tax fraud which happened a decade ago having nothing to do with Collusion.

This is not just "MY" argument. This is Dershowitz's argument - a devoted liberal who voted for both Obama and Hillary - one of the foremost experts in constitutional law and protector of civil liberties.

Belief in protection of essential liberty is not just belief - only in protection for essential liberty that one agrees with. Everyone believes in that. Belief in protection of essential liberty is belief in protection in instances where one disagrees with the action under investigation.

We don't get to pick and choose - protect that essential liberty but not that one - or in that instance but not in this one - and claim to have respect for essential liberty. ... or when its Blue there should be protection but when it is Red there is not.

This is a horrible slippery slope - our system is corrupt. The swamp is deep and it is the color purple.

Look at Kavanaugh. Look how many women are out there claiming innocent until proven guilty no longer applies - if you happen to be a man accused of sexual assault. "The woman must be believed" ...

OK then .. lets just throw the Rule of law into the Trash can and pretend we are not a third world puppet justice system and run around in a circle crying "Me Too" and demonize anyone who disagrees as a misogynist - even if that person is a women - God forbid it happens to be a man.

President William Clinton - accused by multiple women of sexual harassment, sexual assault. One woman accused him of actual rape. He lied under oath when caught engaging in sexual acts with an intern within the walls of the White House.
Democrats reaction.... ranged from "meh" to "they are all sluts".

Kavanaugh... accused of sexual assault, 4 witnesses disputed the claim.
Democrats reaction.... protests...verbal attacks on sitting Senators... he's GUILTY!!!... makes hero out of accuser.

And men like Kavanaugh have the full support of the President of the United States.

I knew this would happen from the moment Flake demanded -- with the support of Collins and Murkowski -- that the vote on Kavanaugh be delayed a week and that an FBI investigation take place during that week.

I knew this would happen when Flake, Collins, and Murkowski said "Tsk, tsk, Trump should not have said those nasty things about Ford."

Maybe Trump isn't so dumb after all. Maybe he knew this was all for show, and he could revert to form without hurting the cause. It was all a pretense to show the vote for Kavanaugh was fair and above board ... Republicans will say. Flake, Collins, and Murkowski's a$$es are covered and they will now vote for Kavanaugh's confirmation.

There will be no mention of Kavanaugh's angry, belligerent, defiant, highly emotional performance at the Senate hearing and that this kind of demeanor has no place on the Supreme Court. That will be forgotten by these three Senators and we will end up with a Trump in the Oval Office and a Trump on the Supreme Court.

That, of course, will thrill Trump's fans to no end.

Try to imagine this. We all can agree Trump's comments mocking Professor Ford at the rally in Mississippi were inappropriate at the very least. Now let us picture Justice Kavanaugh speaking at a law university on a subject near and dear to his heart. Because of this, his presentation is filled with fire and brimstone much like Trump the other night.

That is the kind of man Flake, Collins, Murkowski and the rest of the Republicans want on the Supreme Court. Because of Kavanaugh's character, the scenario I described could easily become very real. It is certainly possible that has already happened. We just don't know about it, and the White House certainly isn't going to tell us.

Kavanaugh will be appointed for life.

Kavanaugh should not be appointed on the basis of two factors

    1) 50+1 = Tyranny of the Majority violates one of the founding principles and the definition of a Republic. The bar should be returned to 67%, 2/3rds majority.

    2) Kavanaugh has shown an inability to distinguish the difference between 1) having a personal or religious belief and 2) forcing that personal or religious belief on others through physical violence (aka Law).

This is demonstrated in his anti abortion agenda - and failure to speak on the subject in a way that shows any knowledge of the founding principles or the critical elements of the debate in general.

We would not be having this debate if Blue Congress, or Red Congress for that matter, had respect and/or understanding of the founding principles... but they don't.

The question should have never been allowed - Fruit of the Poisoned Tree. Conviction of someone on this basis is yet more proof of what a third world corrupt clown show of a justice system we have.

Yeah I have to whole-heartedly agree. This impasse and absolute **** show belongs solely to him and it's a total travesty that has degraded all institutions involved. Absolutely sucks for our country.

Fact: The White House ordered the FBI investigation of the President's Supreme Court nominee and provided the scope of the investigation.

Fact: White House counsel Donald McGahn’s final bit of business before departing was to get Brett M. Kavanaugh seated on the Supreme Court. McGahn wrote the instructions for the FBI.

Fact: There are over 1600 pages of the FBI report. There is only one copy for review by 109 persons, 100 Senators and nine staff members.

Fact: Senators can't bring their phones into the SCIF when they go to review the documents. If they take notes, the notes must be left in the room when the senator leaves.

Fact: Senators are not allowed to discuss or characterize in detail what they've read.

Fact: A procedural vote is set for tomorrow with a confirmation vote of the full Senate slated for Saturday.

Brett Kavanaugh's angry, highly political denunciation of Senate Democrats at his confirmation hearing could reinforce views of his unsuitability for the Supreme Court. During his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Supreme Court nominee called the sexual misconduct allegations against him a "calculated and orchestrated political hit" by Democrats angry that Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election. Kavanaugh ripped the Senate confirmation process as a “circus” that has led to smears and threats against his family. “This confirmation process has become a national disgrace. You have replaced advise and consent with search and destroy,” he said in defiance. He lamented that he would no longer be able to teach or coach. At one point he held back tears.

Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens on Thursday said that high court nominee Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, who Stevens once lauded in one of his books, does not belong on the Supreme Court. “At that time, I thought (Kavanaugh) had the qualifications for the Supreme Court should he be selected,” Stevens said. “I’ve changed my views for reasons that have no relationship to his intellectual ability … His performance in the hearings ultimately changed my mind.”

Fact: Appointed by Gerald Ford, Stevens is a life-long Republican, and the third-longest-serving United States Supreme Court Justice by time in office (12,611 days). The man deserves to be heard!

Fact: Republicans are looking at his performance. Nor are they examining the veracity of his testimony particularly with respect to his drinking habits. They claim the FBI report is complete and the accusations against Kavanaugh were not substantiated.

Fact: If Kavanaugh is confirmed by the Republican Senate, Americans get a chance to voice their views on November 6.

We are having this discussion because the Republican Congress can't stop licking Trump's boots. Because of that we will now have a Trump clone on the Supreme Court.

Trump's fans will just love that.

Even an amoeba realized this was a bogus investigation from the jump. No limits or restrictions on the FBI but it was all crafted to NOT reveal the truth because the GOP already knew what the truth was/is. More smoke and mirrors from the most corrupt GOP and White House. The USA has turned a very dark corner and mostly because this is a brazen in your face cover-up that they are not even trying to cover up.

    Indeed we do.
I was skeptical at 1st ... didn't think you had the stamina to rant for Trump's entite 1st term. I grossly underestimated your "passion". But Kavanaugh's lifetime appointment seems a remarkably lofty goal ... even for someone with your level of "comitment". The GOP is clinging to Trump's coat strings for good reason. Trump's 2nd term is going to be awe inspiring with the GOP firmly behind him.

Yes, the dysfunctional republicans are seeming like rational human beings compared to democrats.

Any more uncorroborated idiots claiming they were raped back in the 80s in the pipeline?

You lost the "does this sound true?" test. Now it's time to just sit back and let the adults handle things, because... well, you really have no choice. So just kick back, relax, and realize that the democratic hail mary backfired.

You are making a fine political argument but not a constitutional one. The supermajority threshold the founders put in place for impeachment, is not mentioned under any other circumstances in the document, including advice and consent You cannot claim a constitutional question exists, when it is clear that it does not exist. The Senate is the sole arbitar of when and under what circumstances to demand more than 51 votes and gets to determine its own criteria, standards and rules for this process.

My argument is with anyone that wants to maintain "Tyranny of the Majority" - including Harry Reid.

Sitting in the peanut gallery shouting out one word responses " bunk" is not an argument for much ? If you can not manage to support your claims .. perhaps it is your claims that are "bunk".

Abortion should be a fairly straightforward legal for a SC Justice who has respect for the founding principles. Would you like to hear it ?
