This article lays out three distinct theories:

    1) Nikki saw the writing on the wall from the new toys, Pompeo and Bolton, who are both much more hardline than Nikki when it comes to foreign policy. She decided to leave on her own terms.

    2) Nikki wanted to earn some cash while the getting is good. She has served in the public sphere for many, many years and her experience certainly could earn her a much more lucrative job in the private sector.

    3) She has her eyes on 2024 with the understanding that Trump, who is extremely popular among Republicans, will not go down in a 2020 primary, but the 6 years removed from anything Trump could play very well in 2024 - regardless of whether Trump wins or loses in 2020.

Of course, there is very little reason to think that all three of these theories could not exist at the same time.

I will not guess why she resigns effective the end of the year. But Trump says she told him 6 months back she intended to do this.

Trump has lied so many times I find it interesting when anyone believes anything he says.

Is CNN that low information that they didn't know that Nikki told President Trump she would be resigning six months ago ?

If it weren't for Fox News we all would be low information.

I'm still going with, Sessions will be replaced by Graham and Nikki will be appointed to Graham's seat in the Senate after the midterms in January of 2019.

Sorry, but I don't trust a word that comes out of Trump's mouth without some kind of verification. If Nikki backs him, then I'd accept it.

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/nikki-haley-resigns-as-un-ambassador-stays-mum-on-next-move
Nikki Haley abruptly announced her resignation Tuesday as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, catching staff and lawmakers by surprise and leaving Washington guessing about the next move for one of the administration's most prominent figures.

Speaking in the Oval Office alongside President Trump, who accepted the resignation, Haley said she would serve through the end of 2018. ..Trump told reporters that Haley did "an incredible job" and is a "fantastic person." He said she had told him six months ago that she wanted to take a break "maybe at the end of the year."

That would be very interesting were she to stay in government. She no doubt is a star.

Better low information than 100% Fox misinformation.

What happened to the poster that came here and proved Trump has not lied as so often claimed?

He knocked out claims that Trump lied.

So which is it, he proved Trump didn't lie as often as claimed or that he proved Trump never lied?

    "Dear Mr. President:
It has been an immense honor to serve our country in your Administration. I cannot thank you enough for giving me this opportunity.

You will recall that when you offered me the position of United States Ambassador to the United Nations in November 2016, I accepted the offer based on some conditions. Those conditions included serving in your Cabinet and on the National Security Council and being free to speak my mind on the issues of the day. You made those commitments and you have absolutely kept them all. For that too, I will always be grateful.

We achieved great successes at the UN. We passed the toughest sanctions against any country in a generation, pressuring North Korea toward denuclearization. We passed an arms embargo on South Sudan that will help reduce violence and hopefully bring peace to that troubled country. We stood up for our ally Israel and began to roll back the UN’s relentless bias against her. We reformed UN operations and saved over $1.3 billion. We spoke out resolutely against dictatorships in Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and yes, Russia. Through it all, we stood strong for American values and interests, always placing America first. I am proud of our record.

As a strong supporter of term limits, I have long believed that rotation in office benefits the public. Between the UN Ambassadorship and serving in the South Carolina Governorship and General Assembly, I have been in public office for fourteen straight years. As a businessman, I expect you will appreciate my sense that returning from government to the private sector is not a step down but a step up.
Accordingly, I am resigning my position. To give you time to select a replacement, and to give the Senate time to consider your selection, I am prepared to continue to serve until January 2019.

At that point, I will once again become a private citizen. I expect to continue to speak out from time to time on important public policy matters, but I will surely not be a candidate for any office in 2020. As a private citizen, I look forward to supporting your re-election as President, and supporting the policies that will continue to move our great country toward even greater heights.
With best wishes and deep gratitude,
    Nikki Haley

Not surprising but Politifact are including Fox News entertainment and commentary programs into the equation.
Well, some people just can't distinguish real news programs rom commentaries, opinions and just entertainment.

    Then there's PunditFact.
PunditFact is the branch of PolitiFact that looks at and rates statements from pundits.

Watch PunditFact turn a statement that is "clearly accurate" and "technically true" into something that is "Mostly False."

Now that the Kavanaugh hysteria is over, time to stir up more chit. Let's all see what we can pull from our imagination as to why she's resigning. Make sure whatever you come up with makes Trump look bad.

She is a politician who managed to escape the trump administration without looking like a complete moron, maintaining some independence, and didn't get fired.

That takes some next level scheming.

You can tell that this was very well organized and planned because in the "six months" since Trump found out, he was not ready to announce her replacement when the story broke.

Her staff did not know until today, she told him of his announcement last week, Pompeo and Bolton were not aware that was resigning.

    Sure..."six months ago"...."well oiled machine."

    LOL.
