Intelligence services knew he was going to be killed that day in the embassy before it supposedly happened? I am resolutely against any sort of investigation which enters the consulate. Inform the Saudis they're being kicked out, demolish the building after they're done packing up.
Governments don't go after steel workers to stifle freedom of the press..they go after journalists Ask Putin about it. Trump's buddy kills journos all the time
Zero sympathy. This wasn't another naive tourist ... this guy got payed to play with fire. Noble it may be, wise it is not. Turkish bodyguards assaulted US protesters on US soil. Politics and violence go hand in hand in the ME. Political assassinations aren't that uncommon. How many idiots have forced US presidents to beg for their release? It's embarrassing and it's costly, diplomatically and economically speaking. I guarantee there's a US travel advisory in effect for Turkey. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Oh absolutely, and then again we can recall plenty of times when journalists got hurt or raped or murdered overseas, and nary a single one of our leftists -- for some odd reason -- considered that either Obama's responsibility or fault, and not even when it was a U.S. journalist and native born U.S. citizen. A mystery of the Left that the world will never solve; how it COULDN'T be Obama's responsibility or fault then but MUST be Trump's responsibility and fault now. Maybe it has got something to do with sun spots or something.
Interesting here is that the Saudis are moving on reforms while Turkey has headed in the opposite direction. Khashoggi was/is an Islamist in the extreme which is why Democrats want to extract a pint of blood from the Saudis. I'm thinking this was a frame job, just like Democrats tried to do to the Trump campaign. They may have even given Erdoğan advice on killing Khashoggi and framing the Saudi regime so they could kill two birds with one stone. Now they get to tie the murder of a so-called reporter to Trump.
Profits are the source of all of our society's wealth. That is a critical principle. Without it you can't afford to have a government.
Good point. But good luck convincing leftist/socialists of that. It destroys their future plans of having "free stuff." Steve
Every president in my lifetime has played footsie with Saudi Arabia because of oil. Have you forgotten how Obama bowed to the Saudi king?
Yes, no journalist should be killed by their government. Duh. But it happens all the time. The fact that this journalist is a big deal to you is simply because the American media is manipulating you into thinking it's a bigger story than it is. It's a big story to them, not to US foreign policy. What we knew ahead of time is more questionable. I've only found a small reference to that in a Washington Post story, so I really don't know what we knew, and how much time we would have had to alert him. I'm not sure, because of the classified nature of that sort of information, that we'll find out, but I've already been surprised that the Turks released that they had audio recording of the killing. That's surprising coming from a regime that also kills it's journalists whom you don't care about.
Saudi Arabia is a important ally in the middle east We dont have to like everything they do but this is none of our business
Those radicals have been working overtime trying to remove Trump from the Oval Office. Who couldn't guess that they would pin the death of Khashoggi on Trump --- for all those bad words he said about journalists? They did the same thing to Palin when the same radicals sent Loughner out to kill Gabby Giffords because of her vote against Pelosi for Minority Leader in 2011. Not a story framing Gabby as a Blue Dog ,,, just a Democrat so Palin's targeting symbolism could be assigned culpability, a GOP on Dem attack. These people aren't very original.
That shathole Mexico kills the most journalists by far, along with prosecuting attorneys, mayors, and judges. Real shathole that place.
That's not what Trump said today? Are you going to accept that as a lie or change your position accordingly?
Possibly Trump's endless attacks on the press and his declaration that they are the enemy has emboldened other countries to adopt the same attitude.
Soon as Trump approves the sale of combat drones to the Saudi's these "barbaric" assassinations will be a thing of the past. Obama rendered our non existent CIA hit squads obsolete. Espionage, if in fact this journo was involved in it, is almost universally punishable by death. As barbaric as the alleged assassination appears, there could be justification. Haven't ever heard of Snowden traveling outside of Russia. Not once in all these years. Wonder what Snowden's affraid of?
Couldn't say. But Obama "retired" people in Pakistan, without Pakistan's knowlege or consent pretty frequently. Liberals didn't seem to mind the assassinations, or civilian casualties either. Not that I condemn killing terrorists wherever they hide, I just understand that US hypocrisy fuels hatred, distrust and radical islamic propaganda. It's a "clean hands" proposition, is what I'm saying.
A reporter being fed, or paying for information. Potentially very sensitive information collected by illegal means, by hostile foreign governments. Simply put, espionage ... punishable by death.
