It does not matter who the general may be, or how many stars they have to their name, they are nothing more than a random individual whose opinions on what makes for good tactics and equipment on the battlefield, do not have any relevance to matters pertaining to purely private citizen matters.
The above standard only applies if the enemy combatants being faced down actually place a higher standard of value on living rather than dying. Those who will not think twice about killing themselves in a suicide attack in the name of killing infidels will not see fallen comrades as worth saving.
