We get to vote for the party led by Trump that promised to bring back jobs and delivered with record low unemployment for all. I can understand your upset but you have to admit that the Republicans are doing some very good things for this country and it's not as if the Democrats are perfect. You guys can find a handful of issues to attack the Republican party with while we can find a mountain of issues to attack the Democratic party with so don't act like the Democratic party is any better.

As for Medicaid SS I wonder why they want to slash funding for that? This is something I don't agree with but I doubt it would even get passed if they tried. Not enough Republicans would even be for it. I will do more research on this.

    Fixed that for you

Resetting the stage for the next unnecessary Mid East war (leaving Iran Deal) and the next economic crises (deregulation) at the same time are enough to vote against the Repubs, as far as I'm concerned.

I do sincerely tip my hat that you mention doing research, and don't at all mean that in a crappy way.

This is a very interesting read and should help you understand better what the problems with the deficit is. I don't agree with over spending on the military but I won't let this stop me from supporting Trump who has made our economy better.

A surplus does not sound like a bad thing but I wonder how they can actually predict that by 2027 when anything could happen.

Thank you. It amazes me that fellow Americans don't want to help others but don't bat an eye when the war machine is going.

How do we have the lowest job gains in seven years if there is more people working now then in the entire 8 years with Obama? Record low unemployment means more jobs and more people working so I am interested to see what evidence you have to support that crazy claim.

I am off to bed. Will look at this thread tomorrow.

Before I go to bed I have one more question. How are the Republicans cutting benefits to SS if they are taking it from the surplus that as your picture pointed out is at 2.5 trillion? Wouldn't they have to use that entire 2.5 trillion surplus before they have to cut benefits? That does not make any sense to me at all. If your claiming the Republicans are going to hurt Americans with SS benefit cuts I would argue that everyone will be just fine if there continues to be a surplus for SS since it has it's own taxes and a yearly surplus thus this is nothing more than a scare tactic. Nice try though.

Do I agree with them taking the money from SS? It depends on what they use it for. Do we know exactly what they will use it for?

    See you all tomorrow.

That's a simple statistic straight from the bureau of Labor Statistics. (Sorry there's no year end tally but if you add up the numbers yourself youll see that 2017 was the lowest gains, I've done it and it checks out). I actually consider Trump's 2017 jobs number to be 'fine' but it Was the lowest in 7 years, which doesn't seem like anything to hang a hat on. Jobs gains had been trending downward for the three previous years as you'd expect as we get further removed from the Great Recession and Trump's 2017 number slotted right in to that trend. I'm not criticizing the 2017 number but I disagree with the idea that Trump deserves any particular credit for low unemployment numbers when he got there with the lowest jobs gains in seven years, is all I'm sayin'.

    https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001?output_view=net_1mth

I may be misunderstanding you on this. We have a slightly lower unemployment rate now, but that's a continuation of a trend, we added jobs through each of Obama's last six years.

Our complaint is that if Repubs are taking money from SS while cutting taxes for Wall Street and the affluent, then they are effectively paying for tax cuts to the rich with our retirement security which we've paid for, whatever the money eventually gets spent on.
