When smoking pot is the most important thing in your life...more important than all of your other rights and liberties, more important than secure borders, national sovereignty, citizenship, the rule of law, a bustling, liberty enhancing economy....I'm going to question your character. deal with it, Cheech

When you can sit idly by while millions of your fellow countrymen are incarcerated for a victimless 'crime' saying, 'eventually' the law will change, you should question your own character.

Why must 'not sitting idly by' entail voting for commies? there are right-wing and libertarian groups that are actively engaged in the fight to legalize marijuana. why not support them...instead of taking your ball and going... over to the dark side?

Obama with his majorities in congress could have easily legalized marijuana....

    did they?

then why do you think voting straight ticket commie will mean instant gratification?

The problem with that is that it's still a Schedule 1 drug, which means that it will hamper any States attempt at legalization when it comes to the financial side. Big banks won't do business with Pot stores because of it. It creates a lot of uncertainty because what would stop a future Federal administration who clamps down on it from the Federal side?

Nothing. Any and every state-legal marijuana business lives in the shadow of a raid and bust by the DEA at any moment, with everyone involved going to prison -- and it would only have to happen a few times to create a threat credible enough for the remaining owners to shut down.

Just like gay marriage, legalizing pot has no logical or well reasoned argument against it.

    Sorry.

I fully support removing all laws prohibiting the adult use of marijuana.

In my opinion, there are more important issues facing us.

Accordingly, there is no chance that I will vote for a single democrat. Any vote for any Democrat, to me, is a signal of approval of their despicicable behaviors these past years. Until they, en masse, apologize to the country, they will never see a vote from me.

Note: this post does not constitute an endorsement of Republicans.

    True.

I just wonder who are the GOP Senators that are going to vote to advance it in the Senate.

    That's an odd response.

Trying to decipher it, I'm guessing that you don't believe that he will be a typical Democrat and vote the party line whenever told.

Forgive my cynicism, but I doubt he will vote against the party leadership unless his vote isn't needed.

Here is a little bit about the man's Governorship.

In November 2010, the Tennessee Supreme Court stopped the executions of four death row inmates so a lower court could examine the constitutionality of Tennessee's new lethal injection procedure.[2] The trial courts had 90 days to test whether a new step added during the lethal injection was constitutionally sound. Bredesen stood by Tennessee’s lethal injection protocol despite the Tennessee Supreme Court's decision. He said that he respected the high court’s decision but believed the state was already operating within all confines of the law.

“I’m confident that what we’re doing is humane and sensible and in the main stream, it is certainly what a great many other states do, and that in the end we’ll find that what we’re doing is consistent with the Constitution and the law and that Tennessee will be able to go ahead,” said the former governor.[3]

He is not a lapdog or party man. He was a good Governor, and the people of TN know this. He was the mayor of Nashville two times and the Governor of this conservative state two terms. That right there should tell you that he can work across the aisle.
