Nope. Democrats held majorities in many Southern Statehouses, Congressional seats and Governorships up into the mid 90s. Without looking it up, IIRC, Democrats held a majority of those positions up through the early-mid 90s. Other than VA, the ENTIRE SOUTH voted for Democrat Carter in 1976. About half the South voted for Democrat Clinton in 1992. Only one sitting Congressman, Strom Thurmond, switched during the CRA time period. The FEW others who switched were not sitting Congressmen when they switched parties.

That the "South switched to Republican after the CRA" is a lie narrative, counter to irrefutable historical fact. Now that you have been educated as to the facts, will expect you not to repeat the lie narrative going forward.

I have listed the real reasons the South -gradually- became Republican over 50 years many times. Racial issues are not among them, ceased being a voting issue in the South in the late 70s. Here they are again in no particular order and abbreviated, just to get the truth nailed down well and good, and to enhance your education. You're welcome.

1. Greater wealth in a South that had been poor since Reconstruction led to greater tax sensitivity, and dissatisfaction with Democrats, perceived as the party of higher taxes.
2. Abortion.
3. Gun control.
4. Disrespect of the military and police.
5. Law and Order, perception that Democrats are soft on riots and other crime.
6. Being the subject of stereotypes and bigotry from LW and the MSM for 40 years.
7. Youth Movement, Hippies.
8. Cultural and other Marxism, especially in academia and MSM.
9. Distrust of big central, federal government going back way before the CW.
10. Perception of anti religious sentiment in the LW and Democratic Party.

There are more -real- factors. That's enough. To paraphrase Reagan, "The South didn't leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left the South."
