A Northern California fire is growing at a rate of about 80 football fields per minute

I had no idea these entertainers were so religious, aren't these the folks who routinely denounce Trump's "thoughts and prayers" after every mass shooting?

This has nothing to do with the fires.

I live way up in northern California, Lassen county. We deal with these forest fires every year. Most of the people in this area agree that we need more forest management. Most of us still use wood to heat our homes. We spend a lot of time in the forest. If California would let us clean the forest it would create many needed jobs in this area. We already lost our mill some years ago.

In trying to "save the trees" they are creating an unnatural state, where fires aren't able to clear out much of the growth.

Even California's local news outlets were questioning CNN's claim of 80 football fields per minute.

No government agency made such a claim.

The environmentalist rarely if ever get anything right.

They were wrong with outlawing mountain lion hunting in California and were quiet when the mountain lions population exploded and ate all of the big horn sheep and started attacking humans.

They outlawed lead bullets in California and furious bullets with steel cores sparks and starts wildfires.

It was the liberal environmentalist who demanded that fire breaks were no longer to be maintained in the hills and mountains and put a stop to controlled burns to prevent wildfires.

In California 90% of all wildfires are human caused. More people = more wildfires. But Jerry Brown and the liberals still have the welcome mat out at the border.

Last year both the USFS and Cal-Fire said because not being allowed to maintain fire breaks and fire roads and not being able to conduct controlled burns, when there is a fire they can't get to the fire to stop the spread of wild fires.

Then there's the electrical utilities, Edison, PGE, etc.

Liberal legislatures by law has forced the electrical utilities to divert funding for maintaining the current electrical infrastructure to building solar and wind farms instead of maintaining the power lines.

We've had a wet year. But I still bush hog the fire break mid-summer and late fall. Drought may be on the way soon, no way of knowing. Most of the landscaping I can cut to the ground in a pinch and it will be back fully next year, e.g., crepe myrtles.

Even Florida burned in 1998 with about twenty-five uncontrolled wildfires and closed interstates.

Fire will always clear out growth. The question is do you want it in small doses or big apocalyptic events.

Been hearing whose homes were lost in the Malibu area. Many were extremely rich white liberal elitist who said they would be moving to a predominantly white country like Canada if Trump was elected as President.

No reason to hang around and rebuild, now is the time for these liberals to keep their word and move to a white country.

Big apocalyptic events so California can send an ex police/seal team/quarterback who now is an elite rescue/fbi agent/firefighter who lost someone in accident/disaster/fire which makes him moody.

To save the day whilst his estranged wife and daughter are also in peril but not really. Everyone else will die but at least he can reunite with his wife and save his daughter who will die but not really and everything will be ok for him.

Oh wait I was just describing the plot of any film by the Rock.

I have heard several times over the years that these fires and their easy spread is because controlled burns are not done, and the dry desert underbrush is a tinder box. Is it true? And if so, why is the land not being managed properly?

Ca. has had these sort of fires for my entire life. As the population became greater and more dense, the risk of losing a home to a wildfire as probably increased.

Ca. used to be a great place to live, back many years ago. Modern liberal rule has turned some of Ca into a place I would never choose to live. I hear this from many prior people who grew up there in the 50s and 60s. They once had the best public schools in the nation too. Once is the key word here. If you wanta see what uncontrolled illegal immigration and modern liberal rule(as opposed to old liberal rule), look no farther than Ca. If the trend continues, you will have a two class society there, IMO, in a few decades, the rich who build walls around their homes, turning them into compounds, and then the poverty stricken, high crime areas, where english is not spoken.

I doubt you can blame the wild fires on modern liberalness though. But you can blame them for allowing Ca to be a much worse place to live, unlike the past, when midwesterners who moved there found a paradise and good gov't.

It is a state I would never travel to, in order to enjoy the sights, indeed, I would never cross the state line. This is what the rest of america would look like if the modern democratic party ever got back control as they had it for so long from FDR until Reagan. These democrats are not fit to rule, IMO, but then neither is the GOP. Both only represent a few at the top, while the DP will throw the poor folks a bone or two, before they vote with the GOP to take it back.

Come on Jack4Freedom, most junkies and crackheads don't vote except those who live in Malibu, Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Hills.

Law enforcement says that Santa Ana, California is the heroine capital of California and who lives in Santa Anna ? Santa Anna was the first city in the OC to go blue and is when the "Orange Curtain" moved to the 405.

I know what area you are referring to north of L.A. in the high desert and those people aren't political or vote. They are slave and their slave masters are the Democratic party. They all got a monkey on their backs, the government.

All I know is that all of the meth and crack heads around my area wear those MAGA hats and have their trucks and vans all stickered up like the MAGA bomber dude from Florida. Maybe heroin addicts tend to lean to the left....

I lived in the San Bernardino National forest for 25 years. When I first moved there I was still putting myself through school. To save money I would cut my own firewood. At some point the decided to regulate which trees could be cut and marked them with paint. It started out ok but as years progressed fewer and fewer trees would get marked to the point you could drive forestry roads all day not finding a tree. Then more and more forestry roads were gated and closed to vehicular access. Then we would have a fire and the burned areas would immediately be closed for reforestation and you couldn’t even get burned trees out of there.

Katy Hill, an openly bisexual woman who is married to a man (lucky guy) is my new congresswoman. She beat openly homophobic Republican incumbent Steve Knight, son of Pete Knight former assemblyman who is famous for promoting a bill to keep homosexuals from getting married a few years back.

Hill, 31 has been involved in advocating for helping find housing solutions and mental health aid for homeless people. I like that. We have all of these malcontents here on this forum blaming Democrats for policies which create ugly scenes regarding homeless people littering the streets with feces and needles. Well here we have a progressive candidate who has experience actually doing things to resolve the homeless in the streets problems. What a concept. Republicans constantly whine about the homeless and the problems they create but as usual offer no solutions to other than making fun of or otherwise disparaging those people, many who are veterans with mental health issues. Good luck Katy!
