Whether you follow the left-leaning Trump-hating mainstream media or some even nuttier left-wing media sources, I can't speak for your media sources or their motives. On Fox a story about the caravan is 9th on the 'home' page and 1st on the 'World' page. That fact aside though, some reduction in coverage is to be expected partly because people are probably getting bored with the caravan's slow progress, and partly because other things (like the midterm elections, the election recounts, Veterans Day related events, and the devastating California wildfires) have taken priority for the time being. None of that points to "publicity stunt" or "the migrant problem has vanished".

The only way you will ever stop this tide is to A. Make it a federal crime to hire an undocumented worker for anything. And make the penalty harsh and financially ruinous for those that get caught hiring them. B. Make Federal Service compulsory for every graduating high school senior. One year picking lettuce and strawberries in the California sun before they can go to college, get married, join the military, etc. C. When that plan fails, re-enact the Guest Worker programs that were so successful in the past.

But no. For some simpletons building a wall is the only answer.

Why were the employer restrictions so ineffective? Going back to the OP. So what if 5 million people on South America want to emmigrate to the US. I read in the GOULUP Poll that 50 trillion people in Hell want ice water. Neither will get what they want.

 

At least Trump has talked about illegal immigration. It will be back in the headlines but in the short term, Paris and the election bumbles took center stage. The news media always chases low hanging fruit so it will be back..
if 5 million or 10 million or 30 million all want to come here, Democratic leadership will want to accept them and sign them up to vote. The better question is would we have enough service, food and water to support this mass infiltration? Maybe we just raise taxes to 70% of all those earning 25K or more. How long would that last?

There are multiple caravans, you see... and the 'vanguard' has already arrived at the border with San Diego. They're HERE, and there's a lot more of them on the way. Anybody who is horrified and disgusted at the prospect of illegal invaders pouring into OUR country would be 'freaked out'... but that obviously does not include radical Democrats who seem to have a perverse desire for the United States to be turned into as big a 'shithole' country as those that the 'migrants' left in the first place....
