Why does the US stay in NATO?

Granted, they annexed Crimea. And they backed the people that elected a president who was taken out by a coup, with US/CIA/NGO support in Ukraine. We, the US were involved, and then russia got involved. On the other side. The US, in its meddling, in Ukraine, drew in russia. I would be shocked if this would not happen.

There is so much context here, and IMO, that context does not in anyway make Russia a threat to Europe. A conquering force. That is just absurd.

Russia does not have the resources to wage a war of conquest. They cannot win a nuclear exchange. And that is the end of that story.

Your position on russia is of irrational fear and paranoia. Without a credible basis for it, IMO.

We have never had a modern war on our shores and after seeing how California is burning up can you imagine what old fashioned incendiary bombs would do to our cities of largely wooden homes??We need all the allies we can get.

 

Illegal entry into the US is a misdemeanor. If previously deported it is a felony. Overstaying a visa is a civil offense and can result in deportation but isn't a crime. It's pretty obvious that these are not death penalty level crimes.

 

There is nothing wrong with looking forward optimistically. I am sure the US will be quite okay despite Donald......eventually. What has gone wrong began in 2016 when you elected a gutter grub sleazebag narcissist idiot, and it has been down hill since then. For typical example....when Trump won, our PM Malcolm Turnbull (a conservative) rang to wish him well, and instead...got a gobfull from Donald who has lost it irretrievably for the US. You do not piss on your good mates.....ever. Get rid of the idiot, and all will be well, normal transmission and relations will return. Trump's MAGA is an international failure...in fact it is a disaster.
