If you have to have money to live there, even less reason for people to loot. You aren't going to loot if you have money.

There is probably more than one reason not to loot. But, I would bet that a well armed population has a lot to do with it.

Except well armed populations in Louisiana and Texas didn't prevent looting there so guns clearly are not a controlling factor.

I have spent a lot of time in Texas and Alaska. Not so much in Louisianan. It is simply not the same gun culture as Alaska.

Yet, both places still have plenty of guns. Guns is clearly not a controlling factor in whether or not there is looting.

Arguably the fund could be the reason for the earthquake. So doubtful.

California suffers earthquakes all the time, so do regions all over the world with no such subsidy, so no, the logic does not follow on that.

Plenty of guns does not do it. It is more a matter of attitude. In general, Alaskans love the outdoors and guns and the outdoors go together up there.

Maybe the amount of guns they own also explains that Alaska has the 5th highest homicide rate in the US?

Dude, Texans practically worship guns. The attitude is not that much different.

But to answer your question. The answer is simply that looting situations happen mostly when people feel that they are anonymous and part of a bigger whole that will be undetected (think of the yellow jacket strikes in france right now). The biggest town in the affected area of the Alaskan earthquake is Wasilla: population 10,151. No anonimity in which to hide.

I was referring to the oil drilling, citizens get a check from the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, which is a state-owned corp that manages the Permanent Fund, which was set up in the late 70s by a State Constitutional Amendment after the North Slope stated to flow. , it is funded largely by oil revenue the state collects from it's major natural resource and set up to insure future Alaskans benefited from the oil reserves.

as someone who used to live in alaska i can tell you with great certainty when you factor in the high cost of living and how expensive it is to ship food and other necessities 2000 a year reall isint that much. More like a supplement than anything.

How in the hell would looters escape in Alaska with major damage to their highway??They also have a miniscule population.

It's only like $2000 a year, not enough to live on.

It does make a difference when you are poor.

Right, but it is apparently the difference between poverty so deep you loot and not looting.

The $2000/year won’t cover the cost of living difference in Alaska. Most stuff in Alaska is shipped in from the lower 48. The last time I was in Anchorage, I saw dozens of people open carrying. Anyone looting is suicidal.

Plenty of people with guns in Texas and Louisiana. Looting still happened after natural disasters. Guns are clearly not a controlling factor.

The logic still stands. No one has yet to disprove it.

I mean its actually a mineral resources royalty because of their particular state constitution but you be sure to misunderstand what's going on there, ok?
