I think many EGs garden to get away from themselves and bad news.
OTOH, if I am ever tempted to gouge eyes turnips are not a likely substitute for the real thing.
    Parsnips? Maybe... ;-)

Obvioulsy Frankie boy was a boozer.Couldn't be in the Rat Pack
w/o being a massive tippler.Even Sammy Davis Jr. who could
belt out a song while smoking a cig and holding a drinkie pooh.
But many don't know what Frankie Boys favorite booze was.
I heard it was Jack Daniels but never really believed it.
I know Deano liked Scotch { Ballantines was in a few Matt Helm flicks }.
Well Jack Daniels just released a new Bourbon.

Reminds me of my all time favorite Lewis Grizzard says " Be Careful bending Over In The Garden Granny, Them Taters Got Eyes". Title of one of his many books of humor.

Kinda fits in with one of the lines of discussion.

That, and I'm halfway home on my 2 1/2hr drive from work (leaving the liquor store, now). Starting to feel the excitement.

Im not a regular church goer. I do kind of remember this from Catholic school because it deals with guilt and forgiveness. You cant sit through years of Catholic school teachings and not know how to put guilt in its proper perspective lol. I think they teach this so that you don't do wrong to have to feel guilty over and repent.
Godly sorrow is something you did that was wrong. You feel guilty over it, repent for doing it and are forgiven. Worldly sorrow is more a self pity type thing. Probably along the lines of if you wallow in self pity its a death of spirit. Something like that but Im not sure because I was probably drawing or glazed over staring out the window at the time.

"Falena do you think it fair your mother is wasting her money sending you here?"
Ahahah I never forgot hearing that.

I didn't know the exact quote but I found it.

Imagine Dragons is a rather recent addition to my music library. Apparently they have been around for a while, but have had a recent resurgence of popularity.

Todays singers act like yesterdays burlesque, they all have an act. This reminds me of one of the strippers at the last burlesque club in Atlanta Georgia in 1969 who did the trappese act, lol.

They had to have a gimmick,

I managed to find that as well, along with several alternative translations. I think this one captures my recollection of something I thought was from one of the Gospels.

New American Standard Bible "For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death."
    https://biblehub.com/2_corinthians/7-10.htm

A little more than just self pity perhaps. Despair over the mess that is the world would also be error according to the above translation. The message seems to be a call to some kind of action as opposed to wallowing in feelings of sorrow and hopelessness.
A good message for all human beings regardless of religious faith or the absence of any. Move while you can or lose - fast.

There's no hidden message in my post. There's nothing personal meant, at all. It's just that every time I see you post, it reminds me of this:

It actually triggers good memories of building model cars and hearing the song play.

Guilt tripping you for the actions of others is one of the more egregious fallacies that made me shun organized religion in all it's forms.

The correct answer to that disingenuous question is that you never asked to be there and it was the responsibility of the school to ensure that your mother received value for her money since you are the intended recipient of said value.

If a teacher cannot maintain the attention of the students the problem lies with the teacher for not making the subject matter sufficiently interesting enough to be learned.

Ok I gave this some thought. This is my cut to the chase version. lol
I think the bottom line here may be eternal life.
Godly sorrow is knowing the difference between right and wrong and choosing to do wrong. You feel guilty over it, repent for doing it and are forgiven. That opens the door wide for eternal life.
Worldly sorrow is doing wrong and not caring that it was wrong. Repeating the pattern of wrong with no remorse, guilt or regret. You die your soul is done.
