Again, I don’t really hold a position one way or another on transgendered people except that they should have the freedom to not be harassed and should be able to do whatever they want to their bodies. They should have no more or less rights than any other American.

Help me out here; is a transgender woman a man who thinks he's a woman, or a woman who think she's a man? The left is good with names, they can do better than this.

 

I believe it is a mental illness. A person's body is a biological and physical fact, settled science, and gender is decided long before birth.

Hypothetical: If a man never saw a woman before in his life, do you think it's possible he'd believe he's a woman?

 

I really don’t know how I feel about it — on the one hand people are wanting to mutulate themselves on the other hand doctors are now saying some trans people actually have brain structure similar to the sex they believe they are. If it’s a mental illness then I still don’t believe they should be mistreated.

If he had never even heard of a woman then no, they could be much more feminine or have other issues though. I really have no idea. It’s an interesting question though bit way beyond my armchair research.

So a trans woman is a male biologically.

I will call them a woman as long as they are actually transitioning as it helps with their issues and it doesn’t cause me any personal grief. If they have to correct me I will do my best but may forget unless they get an attitude, then — as I’m sure a few posters here can attest to — I will become a smartass.

Everyone should have the freedom to chase whatever makes them happy and whole as long it doesn’t harm another. Then the tricky part is deciding which party is actually being harmed and which side is being a snowflake.

You're talking about 'before birth' and you don't even seem to know what happens in the womb.

Here"s a couple of facts for you :

1- The genitals and the brain don't develop at the same time.

2- If something can go wrong at any point in the womb (or in nature for that matter) it will do once in a while. At pretty much every step of the fetus development, something that shouldn't happen, happens.

3- During the development of the genitals, sometimes things go wrong and a man is born without a penis or with a vagina because testosterone didn't do its job.

An guess what? During the formation of the brain testosterone sometimes probably doesn't do its job and…Things go wrong!!! Isn't that incredible? And by incredible, I mean perfectly normal as things just sometimes go wrong in nature. Still only a theory as it will need to be studied for many years to come. But biological facts can explain transgender identity.
