Noam Chomsky's writing in that book has to do with defending it on free speech grounds. He never once says he agrees with the author.

Chomsky went further than that in his defense of Faurisson. Even one of his supporters, Brian Morton at "The Nation," denounced Chomsky's disingenuous effort to hide his support for Holocaust denial.

"Earlier in the "Elementary Comments" he refers to a critic's remark that the original petition supporting Faurisson's right to expression was
"scandalous." Chomsky writes that this critic evidently misunderstood the
petition's reference to Faurisson's "findings": "It is, of course,
obvious that if I say that someone presented his 'findings' I imply
nothing whatsoever about their character or validity; the statement is
perfectly neutral in this respect." But in fact, the word is ambiguous:
It can mean opinions, or it can mean discoveries. Chomsky must know
this: I take it that the author of The Logical Structure of Linguistic
Theory has a dictionary." Brian Morton, "The Culture of Terrorism._(book reviews)"
    THE NATION, May 7, 1988 v246 n18 p651(2)

Add to that Chomsky's denial of the Cambodian mass extermination and you have a disturbing pattern.

If someone is guilty of murder, they need to be executed. There's no need for a separate set of laws.

The same goes for rape, assault, or any other crime. If someone assaults me, they might get a 5 year prison sentence. But if they assault my black neighbor they should get 10 years in prison?

That he voted for censuring his remarks.

It depends why they attacked you and why they attacked your black neighbor. Lots of hate crimes are against white people.

Racists and bigots have always been common in Congress. King has had lots of company.
Let me know when a general purge starts before making up a list and adding King to it.

And many of the worst racists and bigots in Congress are Democrats.
Should they be forced to resign? No, the voters should deal with them or live with them.

In the 60s you would be right, but today the Repubs got it.

It still slips out of Democrats with some frequency even though now as opposed in the 60's they have learned to be cautious.

"The timing is unfortunate. That people are debating whether the mayor and Clinton made a racist joke on the eve of the New York primary is less than ideal for Clinton. It also comes on the heels of Bill Clinton's confrontation with Black Lives Matter activists and his later semi-apology.

De Blasio was the star of a skit that was meant to be a play on the hit musical Hamilton. He awkwardly performed a rap. And then Clinton came out onto stage as a surprise special guest.

She thanks him for endorsing her, but adds, "Took you long enough." De Blasio, who ran Clinton's campaign for Senate in 2000, notoriously held off on endorsing Clinton.

"Sorry Hillary, I was running on CP time," said de Blasio. "CP time" is slang for "colored people time," an idea that plays on a stereotype that black people are late all the time.
At this point Leslie Odom Jr., an African-American actor from Hamilton, who was part of the skit, jumps in and says, "I don't like jokes like that Bill."

And much of what passes for the "left" is bashing the Jews - again.

    What did he actually say?

No one reports what he said.

I asked if anyone had a transcript early in this thread. No one has responded. I did find this:

"Mr. King, in the interview, said he was not a racist. He pointed to his Twitter timeline showing him greeting Iowans of all races and religions in his Washington office. (The same office once displayed a Confederate flag on his desk.)

At the same time, he said, he supports immigrants who enter the country legally and fully assimilate because what matters more than race is “the culture of America” based on values brought to the United States by whites from Europe.

“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” Mr. King said. “Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?”

After this article was published Thursday, Mr. King issued a public statement calling himself a “nationalist” and defending his support of “western civilization’s values,” and said he was not an advocate for “white nationalism and white supremacy.” “I want to make one thing abundantly clear: I reject those labels and the evil ideology they define,” he wrote."

So, if he really did lump white nationalist and while supremacist with Western Civ he had to know what would happen next. I assumed that he really said it because he apparently voted for the resolution censuring him.

Today I heard a blurb on the radio saying that the NYT made up the quotes, which would be entirely believable if he had not already fallen on his sword.

Is King now vigorously denouncing the NYT for misquoting him?

Here's a list of racial type statements made over the years.
    Nothing really earth shattering.

Radical anti-Semite Rashida Tliab just got elected, radical anti-Semite Keith Elison was allowed to stay in the party, and radical anti-Semite Al Sharpton was allowed to remain in the party. What does it say about the folks who elected these people?

And since you posted, MANY MORE have spoken up. How many democrats have spoke up and condemned the anti-Semitism inside their own ranks?
