Countdown to the end of the world has begun.

The MAD system of nuclear diplomacy will be wrenched towards hairtrigger.

This will at first be countered with hypersonic missiles, soon to be upgraded to space based nuke missiles. Going only one way, that is maybe five minutes. Anywhere on the globe. Current tech makes the journey from Russia to the US in 30 minutes, which is not very sporting to begin with.

Now that Trump is vowing to arm space, it is all out cold war. And lets not forget China.

This step, is a YUGE step towards some kind of showdown. And if we must face that without NATO, and a resurgent Putin, that could EASILY, as Putin has warned, mean an end to human existence.

This step of Trump arming space bristling with sensors and missiles, means we are not far from world war.

That, in red will lead to world war of some sort. We will be attacked before we can achieve IMPENETRABILITY. That would make us dictators of all earth. There would be nothing and no one that could resist our demands.

This is an OFFICIAL end of mutually assured destruction, that has stopped any nuclear confrontations for decades.

Did Russia's massive bunker system -that allows them to effectively shield a signifigant portion of their population and infrastructure from nuclear destruction- end mutually assured destruction?

Do you think its actually possible to completely shield the entire US from a large scale ICBM attack?

This is one of the dumbest posts I've ever read. Supposedly, MAD now prevents anyone from nuclear weapons. Yet just because we're in the process of building a missile defense system MAD goes away and other nations attack the United States?

Not to mention but they attack based on the POSSIBILITY a U.S. missile defense system works??!?

Instead of launching a nuclear war wouldn't the more reasonable response by other nations be to start building missile defense systems of their own?

 

Just like to use progressive’s own arguments against them sometimes. It’s fun. We don’t disagree on the earth. You just can’t use that argument with people who don’t see it that way. They get triggered.

Generally missile defense systems are not intended to stop Russia or any other major power. They will over power it with sheer numbers just like we can over power theirs with sheer numbers. It stands a good chance of stopping a small number of missiles from smaller countries like Iran or North Korea.

 

We share the earth with 8.7 million species.

Given our reach, and economic capability, any cold war, will be asymmetrical. With terrorist aspects. And, they can do it, as they have the same ability to end life on earth GENERALLY, but have less to lose than we do. And so, they can play brinkmanship better than we.

 

You do know one hopes that a "cold war" means little or no actual fighting.

And even if all the nuclear weapons ever built were used at once it wouldn't end all of human life on Earth.

Without us the CO2 levels would have continued to deplete all the way from near 400ppm to near 0ppm and the plants would have died and then all the animals as well.
