Washington has interfered or tried to interfere in hundreds of foreign elections through NGO's, bribery, and a corporate controlled press.

That was 5 years ago and 6 months afterward he started to rule by decree and has for most of his term until the present day.

The NSDAP was also elected in two successive Federal elections, then they consolidated power like Maduro. Dictators are very rarely taken from nowhere and given rule by decree, they are near always elected in some form first.

Again, I do not support regime change. I support the Venezuelans deciding of their own accord and with their own arms rising up.

Keep dreaming! Oh that's right, money talks. Maduro should have watched those diplomatic planes, and what they were packed with - maybe dollar bills like at Maidan?

I have been vocally opposed to state-corporate collusion and using the military and intelligence apparatus to benefit politicans and CEOs.

You're talking to the wrong bloke.

I simply dislike rule by decree. Is that so hard to understand?

Well OP, so far the following countries have recognized Guiado:

    USA
    Canada
    Chile
    Colombia
    Costa Rica
    Guatemala
    Honduras
    Panama
    Paraguay
    Guyana
    Saint Lucia
    Peru
    Puerto Rico
    Argentina
    Paraguay
    Brazil
    Kosovo
    Denmark

Countries that are still recognizing Maduro:

    Russia
    Turkey
    Mexico
    Bolivia
    Uruguay
    Cuba

While Denmark is the only country I could find that came out for Guaido, the Eu has stated the following:

Donald Tusk Twitter --- "I hope that all of Europe will unite in support of democratic forces i Venezuela. Unlike Maduro, the parliamentary assembly, including Juan Guaido, have a democratic mandate from Venezuelan citizens."

Here is a map showing which nations are in support of which:

The Washington regime which is a law unto itself, said it will not recognize the Maduro regime in Venezuela and will not call back its diplomats.

As for Venezuela's defense Minister Vladimir Padrino, he said they will not accept a president imposed by “dark interests,” and the army will continue to defend the constitution and its national sovereignty.

Funny, the last time I came across the term 'dark interests' was in an autobiography during the Russian revolution and in reference to the Bolsheviks.

Oh for God's sake another Maidan which George Friedman of Stratfor said was the most blatant coup in history. Take a good look at Ukraine today, that's what your government did.

We just love civil wars don't we? If we can't exterminate people with our killing machines, then we'll have them kill one another instead. Anyway the army said it will protect Venezuela's sovereignty from the dark forces.

What democratic mandate? Guaido doesn't have a legal leg to stand on, but then again Washington thinks its control of the media makes it a law unto itself. Well let's see for how long. :oldman:

Most of the countries going along with the US's attempt at regime change of the elected Government of Venezuela are ones which must agree with the US or they stop getting bribe money from it. Canada? not sure what is the matter with it.

If anyone believes that, it shows just how post truth the West has become. To suggest what the US is trying to do is democratic is beyond belief and unfortunately shows Tusk has been on the bottle again - it is him who likes a drink isn't it?.

Near all of North and South America, as well as much of Western Europe, decided to collectively get on the grog today.

Doubtful. They just don't like dictators.

I recall when American Democrats supported our government over the dictatorships of Chavez and now Maduro.

I am old enough to recall when the public of Venezuela had a genuine good goverment.

Venezuela has a number of times tried to recapture it's freedom. So long as either Chavez (deceased) or his following dictator was in power, their freedom was doomed.

Which is what the US is trying to put in. Apart from Tusk I do not see any European Country who has agreed with this attempt at Regime Change to suit the US. Of course the UK should be the first. Intending on doing a No Deal we will be far, far more the US puppet than we were even under Blare. This is not Democracy. It is the wantam support of Regime Change of yet another Latin American country which has been destroyed by the US because it did not dance to its tune.

what, you talking about the coup organised by the US against Chavez? I would agree though that if any South America country was not following the politics the US wanted, the US would arrange regime change, destroy it. We have to be thankful that the US's days are ending and there is hope this oppression will also end.

I do not support regime change, not even a standing army to begin with. But by any rational measure Maduro is a dictator and the Venezuelan people should rise up of their own accord and implement free elections. If Maduro gets in the way of this shoot him into a ditch.

    The old Ceaușescu treatment.
