Or it's not a speech. Nancy wants it in writing instead.

The Constitution is already being looked at and interpreted. Certainly this is more of a 'crisis' than Pelosi claimed about the Nunes memo.

Or it's not. How does this compare with Nancy's previous claims of a Constitutional Crisis?

Tradition is not law. There is no crisis over the SOTU, the Constitution is clear on that point. It wouldn’t even be a crisis if DD tried to crash the House.

I have no idea. But this is not a crisis. It's a speech. And trump will do as he is told by the speaker

Prove it. Cite the language that 1. Provides him absolute right to enter floor of the House. 2. A right to speak in the well of the House, without the recognition and approval of the Speaker.

I assert the President has the same right that a drunken sailor has, to enter and disrupt the proceedings.

Congress can restrict who speaks in front of it, yes.

The president didnt start addressing Congress in person until fairly recently in our history as a regular tradition.
As stated his duty is perfectly satisfied by a letter, and historically speaking often was before this latest trend.

There is no constitutional crisis here: his duty is not stymied, and the powers of Congress perfectly allow them to pick and choose who speaks before them.
You're as bad as any liberal, frivolously throwing around words with very serious meanings such that they become meaningless.

No, the house has the say on Impeachment which is akin to being indicted. The Senate has the final say on CONVICTION.
    See Bill Clinton for example.

The point being if they dont do what he says he has no recourse unless Congress itself says he does which they wont.

Yet others are interpreting the Constitution differently. Just google Constitutional crisis, and you'll get pages of hits, but this seems to be one of the few times, and the only one I could find, where the Constitution is actually involved.

    She'll get her wish yet.

I can't wait to see what Trump has in store for her this time - the last time was hilarious...

Akin to being indicted? I don't think so. Even Nancy wouldn't go that far anyway. Point taken on conviction.

I'm sorry let me rephrase my statement; where does it say Congress has to listen to him?

I'm going to say this nicely: I'm a licensed attorney.
Impeachment is akin to indictment as in similar or most easily compared to. If you dont understand a term you should get a dictionary.
As to going that far: where have you been for the past 2 years Fred? Under a rock? Impeachment has been their stated goal since he won the election.

I would presume so. I fully expect to see a SOTU from the floor of the Senate but we'll see what happens...

He still has to send it in letter format in that case.

Absolutely correct. Accusation (impeachment) in the House, trial in the Senate as per the Constitution.

You can’t have a trial without a formal accusation.

If the speech isnt done in front of an assembled quorum of Congress it doesnt count and he has to send a letter anyway.
