Just ask them what they think about the government workers who are now in some cases facing foreclosure, dealing with hardships they've never known before, running out of savings, having cars repossessed, and facing bankruptcy.

So forum conservatives and righties, what do you think about the plight of these government workers? Are you pressuring McConnell and Trump to end the shutdown?

Just ask them why all but 6 Democrats voted not to pay them during the shutdown.

Nope, I'm pressuring them to build the wall... Fund the wall and the workers go back to work.

Be honest! The plan was to pay workers but not end the shutdown, which doesn't solve anything.

It solves every tear you tried to create in your OP.

That wasn't really your agenda though, to take care of those poor people though, huh?

    Thanks for slipping up.

And you tell me to be honest. Funny.

They shouldn't have jobs in the first place. Abolish their positions without replacement.

I feel for them in that they're going to get back pay but in the meantime they're screwed, but appropriations cannot be passed without the consent of the legislature and signature of the President, or a supermajority.

You kind of fought a rather significant war over this principle.

Hell no, keep it going. Trump told the Democrats last year he wouldn't sign another budget without money for the wall. He felt our security was that important. When Pelosi said she wouldn't give him any money for the wall, he did what he said he would. He shut the government down. But he asked the Democrats to negotiate. Instead Pelosi takes off to Hawaii and the Dems go to an island resort and stays a week. Trump stayed in the White House asking for them to come back and negotiate. Instead Pelosi and Democrats were going to take another week trip. Did they worry about the thousands of employees that were laid off? Have they even tried? Trump knows if he doesn't get the wall this year, he never will.

Pelosi said she is against the wall. That's not who we are. But in 2013, they offered 46 billion dollars for 700 miles of fence. Was that not who we are then? Back then we did not have tens of thousands of people at our border, demanding to be let in. So what has changed? Obama that's what. Pelosi hates Obama so much, she doesn't want to give him anything. So who's fault those people are still out and hungry? Pelosi. She refuses to give him anything for the wall.

So far we see no one on the right who has expressed the slightest concern for all the people..... the flight controllers, the NSA people, the DHS people, the 800,000 people who are essential and indispensable in the running of this country, and the wellbeing of their families.

These are the people who should be denied the right to vote as one poster on this forum has discussed.

What are you talking about? Trump has tried repeatedly to get a settlement while the Democrats are off sightseeing. Where is your condemnation for them doing that? How much did they worry about people being laid off? Why is it you can only look at one side and put the blame on one side? Pelosi could have prevented this from even happening, but her hate for Trump has blinded her from seeing anything but denying Trump.

Trump's "settlements" have ALLLLLLL included billions for his wall, and that is a non-starter. The question is why you weren't honest enough to reveal these little details.

Why is that a non starter, why are the dems so against a jobs bill that will create hundreds of jobs building this wall with american steel? Will these not be good jobs? Could the steel workers use the work? or will the 5 bill be better put in giving food stamps and health assistance and education assistance to illegal aliens.

That's because $5.5 billion is bullshit. It will cost a hundred billion, and I must say, there is one thing Trump knows. He knows that if an essential contractor under estimates a federal project, an "adjustment" will be made to pay for the extra cost later. So he under-estimates in order to sell the deal, and later the truth will be told when it's too late to stop the project.

It will cost a hundred billion! And that much money could be paying air traffic controllers, more teachers, and ten other things that we need more. A wall won't keep illegals out. They've already shown they can dig under a wall.

As I understand it that same money could be used for badly needed infrastructure.......

But then, Donnie could not put his name on a mended bridge.......

I'd like them to ensure that in future this affects the entire Federal government, such that no services whatsoever, from law enforcement to bureaucracy to social services, will be available. Ground Air Force One. Turn all the lights off in the White House. All Federal legislation is null and void for the period of the shutdown. States temporarily become independent, sovereign bodies.

    A proper Federal shutdown.

Criminals have also shown they can break out of maximum security prisons. That doesn't mean you demolish the prisons and house prisoners in an open grassed field, it means you strengthen the prison and learn from the mistakes of the past.

This is 2019, we can use technology such as live high resolution satellite imagery and seismic detectors to improve past methods - just as we now use CCTV, automatic doors, and central guard posts to improve the old maximum security prison model.

Indeed no solution will reduce on-foot illegal immigration without modern supplements to an old fashioned wall.

It's easier in Australia, we have the Indian, Pacific, and Southern Oceans to perform the same role as your potential wall. As soon as we started employing modern methods and actually enforcing the law illegal migration by boat dropped considerably.

I listened to an interview with a carpenter who lives in the NY area. He said that he gets laid off when the housing market is bad or when the weather is mad or for supply reasons or funding reasons. No one whines. No one cries. No one sets up go-fund-me pages. There are no food banks. So largely in the 6 of the 10 wealthiest counties in the country, the counties that surround DC and feed on the rest of the country, a bunch of non-essential government employees and contractors are a little squeezed because Pelosi and Schumer want to play politics. Those people will survive.

If only more than 6 Democrats would vote to pay their salaries now and sort the shutdown later.

But it has too much propaganda value.
