Pelosi: No State of the Union in the House until shutdown ends

I’ll try to remember this prediction of yours to discuss it with you after the SOTU address.

 

A government event doesn't necessarily mean it is an *open* government event(this is shaping up to be very similar to the Acosta saga.). For example, the President could give his address in the Rose Garden. Think there'll be invitations? Of course not. The Public is not obligated to attend a speech that I don't think they even attend in the first place.

 

This is really, really, REALLY BAD. Not even during the very worst part of the Vietnam War did anything like THIS ever happen. We have entered completely uncharted waters, and there are monsters lurking beneath the waves. Monsters! And I would not be surprised at anything (ANYTHING) that happens now....

They must be rejoicing at their good fortune in both Russia and China right now. We are pulling each others guts out now, but our opponents haven't had to expend any energy or effort at all....

And that is also true, but that is a limitation of the venue. The rose garden, because it is on white house grounds, is subject to a whole host of additional security restrictions that does not apply at, say, a concert hall.

There is a delicate balancing act which must occur here. But my point is that delivering the speech at one of his usual campaign rallies isn't going to work.

 

Not surprised by this, Nancy is in full panic mode. She can not let trump have a voice. No worries, the president will deliver te SOTU. He follows the Constitution...Nancy clearly wants to undo it

 

More like constipated Americans.

It's time for Democrats to stop turning the other cheek and to swing back at right wing treason.

 

She is providing America something it has craved for two years. Now if the President is less popular secondary to this shutdown, and his tactics are less popular, and his opponent is more popular, then guess which side is likely to have less cracks in unity as this goes forward. Voters admire those that stand up to bullies, more than they admire bullies.

Wow. He sure knows how to incentivize the Democrats in the House to fold to his demands. They don't get to listen to his speech until they do. How will Pelosi survive the caucus pressure.

It's not her job to 'stand up to a bully'. It's her job to negotiate a bill that could pass her caucus that the President can sign. That's her job. That's her ONLY obligation, and she's not doing a very good job of it.

That other people approve of her failure, doesn't mean I'll clap along.

She has already done that job ( not that it accurately describes said job) - four times. Now go talk to McConnell about his job.

 

No...but I understand wanting to continue to show he's willing to work with Nancy...another Olive Branch...unfortuately given Nancy's past behavior I believe it will mean nothing.

 

That is NOT the job description of either Pelosi or McConnell, when it comes to spending bills at least. Their jobs are to negotiate and approve the best bills for America and present them to the President. If he vetoes bills, they vote to override the veto.

That's it... The Presidents viewpoints or statements on bills before they get to his desk should have ZERO impact.

Nancy understands that... McConnell doesn't....

 

He's going to get beat up by conservative media over this. Instead of growing a backbone and telling Coulter / Rush to shut their traps he Will get madder and angrier at how this is playing out publicly. Hopefully the government is reopened before that.

Although Trump obviously never went to "charm school", or picked up a copy of "Diplomacy For Dummies", and even though "the Wall" as originally called for in his Executive Order made no sense, he's now calling for 'barriers' in SPECIFIC areas only, along with greatly enhanced border security.

And you on the Left call that "TREASON"?! How can any rational person even try to reason with someone who says such things which are absolutely batshit-crazy on their face?!
