Ahhh they are made with lots of machines and lots of labor. Airbus adding a new line down here this year.
No sleight of hand. I used the same metric as the OP. Rate of job growth. I did that specifically to compare apples with apples. Manufacturing was the only sector where the Trump economy is outperforming the Obama economy, according to the link in the original post.
We had about 16 times the wealth of china in 1998 when clinton and the repubs in congress gave away the store That was only 20 years ago
There is and never have been a totally free market The Constitution gives the federal government control over international trade
I am not an isolationist We need fair and balanced trade Not the one-sided mercantilism practiced by china
My bad, I guess its just 82 consecutive months. Boy that makes all the difference, doesn't it? But thanks for the correction anyway.
Maybe you missed what I was saying but you are the only one that believes china is no threat to our living standard
You don't get it. Of course they are a small threat. What I disagree with it trying to blame things on them that are not their fault. That won't fix it.
This is about 20 years out of date. Today's digital product design and digital manufacturing technology are integrated so that the old requirements for mechanical automation no longer exist. Set-up times, that restricted mechanical automation and imposed overhead costs, don't exist in a digital world.
I would say a job was created AFTER he got back to what it started out as. For example(not real numbers) say he started at 30 million, lost 10 million right off the bat, then ended with 35 million. Did he create 15 million jobs or 5 million jobs? I say 5. But it’s just my opinion.
HUH? The jobs lost were not because of his policies. You cant give Bush credit for the jobs created after Obamas policies took place. So they get credited to Obama. It’s disingenuous to the debate to make up the rules as you go along.
I liked NAFTA. It didn't bother the corp. I worked for or my job. For me? It meant vegetables that cost much, much less -- things like asparagus and avocados. Asparagus makes your piss stink, but it's wonderful with Hollandaise sauce....
As someone who spent many years in the manufacturing industry, I have some observations. I see we have a huge misconception as to the cost of labor in the manufacturing process. Due to automation, labor costs are a minor part of the manufacturing process. For example, the labor required to assemble a $35,000 car is less than 20 man hours. Making the labor costs less than 5% of the total cost. Cheaper labor would only shave 1 or 2 percent off this. In most cases the shipping costs actually offset any labor saving. In truth, the better quality of the American made product more than justifies that with the knowledgeable customer. The biggest costs associated with manufacturing are the government regulations. In the US we have to dispose of and use numerous items in costly and specified manners. In China, India and other countries those items are applied in the cheapest manner and disposed of by being tossed in a river. I am in favor of these environment saving measures. However, I think we should require anyone making an item to be sold in the US to adhere to those same requirements. If libs were really trying to save the environment they would demand the same. They would boycott buying items that did not meet these standards.
It also meant losing all our manufacturing jobs. Over time we would have been the ones working for slave wages for formerly US companies.
You mean government employment is down or that people are moving from restaurants and service jobs to good paying manufacturing jobs? We have a GLUT of unfilled jobs would you rather then be in low paying fast food or manufacturing?
