If I want jokes I will watch Comedy Central. I am here to debate serious topics. Without facial cues and body language jokes do not translate well in serious discussions. For jokes click on the link. http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?forums/humor-satire.19/
My biggest problem besides all the logical fallacies liberals use because of their lack of critical thinking skills is that I'm always right.
Good thread. ..something else to argue about! IMO, we rarely have 'debates' in the forum. There is no real debate moderation, and no respect for arguments for points. Rebuttals rarely happen. Here's how i see it: 1. Premise A is offered, with maybe a few supporting arguments. 2. Replies consist of ad hom, irrelevant canned responses, or 'us vs them!' groupthink loyalty expressions. 3. Depending on the volume of replies, the central point either dies from inattention, is overwhelmed by false narratives, or deflected by long running flame wars that never resolved. I have a growing bunch of 'groupies', that follow me to almost every thread, deflecting or heckling my every post. I should be flattered, but i do tire of the constant battle. I also get uneasy with the implication of homoerotic attraction, and their possible sadomasochistic fantasies..
I have a suggestion for Stage 4..... a. Admit to being at least partly in error on a topic..... My 2007 anti-abortion e-mail to my M. P. Peter MacKay and my apology for my ignorance b. Back up the admission of guilt with information that assists the reader to look at both sides of a relatively complex subject...... so that they become less dogmatic. I was attempting to do this over here as well: Ignorance shown in my 2008 campaign, my apology to Ms. Elizabeth May! The goal here is not to win the debate.... but to better inform the reader.
