The Dallas County DA has decided that the county will not prosecute any theft crime under $750 for personal items. This approach will cause an open season on small businesses. The consequences for shoplifting are being removed. Every convenience store in Dallas County will be threatened with having to raise their prices and hiring more security, or going out of business. Is this what is is going on in Seattle? Where else is this going on and how has it turned out?

Another concern I have is what happens when someone sees their business going under and decides to defend it with deadly force. Will they lose their defense to prosecution because the theft was not a prosecutable offense? Should they just shut their doors before they lose their shirts?

Let's face it, we all know why they're doing this, and if someone on this board has to ask why then they haven't been paying attention.

Does that mean I can't bring attention to it? It's all about income redistribution by decriminalizing crime. My elderly parents live in Dallas County.

    This is called "progress" :roflol:

As a citizen, all you can do is laugh. The patients are running the asylum, "Idiocracy" is becoming reality.

I thought conservatives were against government being involved in their businesses and lives?

Looks like they need to follow the capitalist model and hire themselves private security.
Stop being freeloaders off the state.

    Right?

I would be calling for his recall or whatever remedy there is under Texas state law and sue the state if they do not enforce the laws and refuse to provide such protection to private business.

Democrats are for vigilante justice? Or are business owners supposed to accept the losses? Theft laws are on the books. Shouldn't the DA enforce the law?

I'll bet they'd come after someone who has an unpaid parking ticket.

No that isn't all they can do. The citizens of Dallas have just been told that thievery of a certain variety is legal. So they need to go out and advantage of it. Follow the policy to the letter and steal the exact type of items under the exact value that this DA is saying he will allow. Lets see how fast the policy lasts when people are forming flash mobs and hitting store after store.

I think the county DA should announce businesses and private citizens can use necessary force to protect their property and go around and start deputizing them. Then local posses can form.

That wouldn't be beneficial to the people he is trying to protect.

Rule of law. You are against the concept of rule of law? You think people should be able break the law, and victimize others with no consequences?

So basically it's a Dallas County version of the Democrats California's Prop 47.

Dallas County can expect a huge increase of property crimes and more homeless pooping on the streets.
That's what happened in California with Prop 47.

Here in California shoplifters go shoplifting with a calculator in their hands making sure they don't go over the $900 limit in stuff they steal in one business establishment.

Here's the thing about this; the people who pay taxes to be protected and have the law enforced are being screwed because the law isn't being enforced against lawless people who don't pay taxes.

Here is the guy who needs to be removed from office.

It's time to end Mass Incarceration
They say that the first step in correcting a problem is understanding it exists and clearly saying so. Like other reformers, I have identified mass incarceration as the most important issue in criminal justice reform today.

So that $900 law actually did pass. What a frigging disgrace.

Proposition 47 resulted in a huge increase in property crimes and an increase of the homeless population who survive on the streets by stealing.

Instead of being behind bars they remain free on the streets.

This is done to keep potential voters out of jail . If they cant make it legal for prisoners to vote, they gotta do something to keep the criminals on the street.

That's one way to keep the crime stats down on illegals - don't charge them with anything.

What's worse is that this isn't a law. It's a declaration by a DA DA that he refuses to prosecute criminals according to the law.

It’s all I need. Everything conservatives don’t like is labeled socialism but every social service they like or use is not. It’s just a matter of the sheer hypocrisy of it all.

No, y’all just agree with programs you like and scream socialism at everything else. What happened to people being responsible for their own affairs?
