Republicans controlled Congress 6 times since Reagan, to 5 times for Democrats. That does not equate to "vast majority of the time".

In the House alone, Dems had control 6 times to Reps 9. Again, not a vast majority of time.

It is what it is broseloma.

    Looks like Weld might tr
No broheem, GOP = 9. DEM = 5 in the House (control of the purse strings). Even under Obama the GOP controlled the purse 6 out of 8 years, and the increase in debt was as bad as it is today.

Let me ask again: GOP controlled both House and Senate when Trump was elected, so what is that liberal establishment he was elected to stand up against?

Thanks for offering your opinion. Not really interested in your "bro" games.

    You made this claim:

Yes, there has, and there has also been long periods of time when GOP controlled all branches.
That statement is not supported by the history of political control of all branches since Reagan was President.

You might keep facts like this in mind:

Then why did you escalate it?

All you have to do is look at "W" presidency when GOP was in full control for 6 out of 8 years, and again with the beginning of Trumps presidency.

What long periods since Reagan has the GOP controlled all branches, which equates to "vast majority of time"?

You are confusing two different things.

    GOP = 9, DEM=5 = vast majority

And then there is the issue of them controlling everything for long periods of time.

If enough Democrats switch parties ahead of the primaries and vote for Weld in the GOP primary, maybe they can scare up enough votes to keep Dirty Donald off the presidential ballot.

I misspoke. Voting for Weld in primaries is meaningless for he will never be nice nominated.

Yea, I guess he won't be stealing any votes if they are both running as "R". He would have to run as an "I".

Won't help him either, for Deplorables are set voting for Trump, Republicans will work for the incumbent Republican, blacks and Latinos will vote for Trump in increased numbers...

    MAGA!

Republicans Could Cancel Primaries to Protect Trump From a Challenge

    http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019...maries-to-protect-trump-from-a-challenge.html

Drew McKissick, chairman of the South Carolina GOP, said he doesn’t anticipate Trump would face a primary challenge and emphasized that the state party executive committee hasn’t held any formal discussions about the contest, dubbed “first in the South” and usually third on the presidential nominating calendar. But McKissick would pointedly not rule out canceling the primary, indicating that that would be his preference.

Weld is not a conservative. Conservatives aren't pro-choice and pro-gun control. Not saying that Trump is a conservative either, as he isn't either.

This is NOT a remotely serious challenge in the republican primaries. I doubt he will win even one state contest, or pressure Trump into a single debate. He is a pro choice, pro same sex marriage quasi libertarian type who deserted his own party to run as a libertarian.

He will be the subject of a couple of Trump sneering tweets and then be forgotten.

Conservatives can be pro-choice, and many are, although the evangelical ones typically prefer government restrictions to it. As for gun rights, I already quoted what he said (that is is a right).

Too many of them have already sacrificed their principles by supporting Trump, and we've seen some formerly credible conservative leaders, like Lindsay Graham, become Trump acolytes. Weld's campaign won't even amount to a footnote.

And if you don't have a chance you should not run? He has a message and wants to bring it to people. If you have something to say, it should be encouraged. I find it promising that many dems are running this time and not a Hillary. No republican out of those 8 but Trump would have attacked Hillary and weakened her as Trump did.

I haven't suggested he not run. I've said he will get a ton of press simply for running against Trump, and he can fill his bank account while doing so.

Consider how little press many get in the basket load of Dems who have expressed a desire to run, or have actually launched campaigns.
The ones getting any press are the shiny object candidates. Beto is fading, and today's shooting star emotional golden boy is Butiegieg.
