Maybe one of the arguments that can be drawn from this map is that race sort of does matter? If race did not matter at all, we wouldn't be seeing those patterns on the map.

Am I welcome here? I am 80. I talk daily to a man who is 99 and a woman who is 94. You might be shocked how deeply involved they are on Politics.

Based on various videos, it seems to me that until you reach around 40, you pay little attention to politics.

    Maybe I can show you.

    And another video

I find demographics and geography in general to be interesting, just the population density alone is amazing to show just how much vacant land there is in this country. You can see mountain ranges and city borders — the stark differences of overall demographics across the country, the integration of or the lack of integration. Just the data required to populate the map is beautiful.

But I have a weird fascination with data and numbers so that’s just my personal opinion

    And some don't.

Some folks like beer, some don't. Some folks like baseball, some don't. Some folks like porn, some don't.

Some folks do all kinds of things, other folks do all kinds of other things.

    It's a wonderful world.

I thought this map was really interesting, but some folks want to turn this thread into something it wasn’t supposed to be.

Here in my local area, we have a huge number of Asians. If you think they don't live as neighbors, come visit my city.

Definitely honest. And I am not making excuses for shopping aisle blockers either. Should I be making excuses for them?

Do have your mind made up on the reasons for these supposed patterns?

Only Chinese block the aisles, and no other race ever blocks the aisles?

Is this the adult conversation the OP had in mind?

How do you think he sounds?

I think he sounds like he's negatively and absurdly judging people by their race.

Is that the adult conversation you want to have?

Think carefully...did you know that up until 1980 Dallas had an active color line, which although technically illegal, remained in effect because realtors and HOA's all agreed that NO black families would be allowed to rent or buy any house or apartment North of Interstate 30?

Quite a few other regions had the same arrangement, and not all of them down South either. Oregon had hard baked segregation baked into its state Constitution until it was finally removed a few years ago.

And huge swaths of the country had things called "Sundown Towns" where you were warned outright or on the downlow that you "did not want to be here when the Sun went down" if you were a minority.

And that is why some of the color lines remain to this day. It was official policy until just a few short years ago, despite what official laws said. You acting like this should have been settled in 1865 speaks volumes, and not in a good way.

He reported what he saw. If you come to where I live you’d be coming to a place that has a Mexican majority and you might notice that they drive below the speed limit, do things a little more slowly than most people I’m used to, and to them going to Walmart is a family outing where it’s very common to see 6 or 8 of them walking abreast down an aisle and only moving as fast as the slowest one who is usually on a cell phone. I’m guessing this probably happens in white majority areas, too, but I don’t live in one so I can only speculate.

You will find that even Today Democrats furiously rush around making laws. Were the majority there republicans those laws were not imposed.

It’s a map. It’s based on census data. It was assembled by a university. It’s probably the most racist thing I’ve ever seen.

Can you tell Asians from the majority population? Say you are shopping among them, and they are the enormous majority, would you pretend they are not Asians?

    Well so what?

Some folks do this, some do that.

I'd rather have people drive below the speed limit than drive like maniacs.

So are you saying it's okay to negatively judge people by their race or what have you?

Do you want to be judged that way?

I wouldn't think it was a bad thing or look for what's wrong with them or anyone else based on that.

    That's called racism.

I thought this thread was going to not be that.
