Remember kids. In US Newspeak, it's only a democracy if it's run by US linked business and it's safe from the "tyranny of the weak" (Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, 1959).

The full article is worth reading.

A subhead from the Wall Street Journal (5/1/19) refers to self-proclaimed president Juan Guaidó’s regime-change cohort as “democratic forces."

In its DemocracyPost blog, the Washington Post (2/26/19) published an article that refers to Venezuela’s self-proclaimed president as part of a “pro-democracy movement."

NACLA (3/7/19) pointed out that Colombia, a Lima Group member, is number one in the world of recorded human rights defenders assassinations.

Yes but they represent the "tyranny of the weak" so they dont count as "the Venezuelan people".

Maduro is the perfect leader for Venezuela.

Long may he maintain the status quo, and protect his people from the evils of capitalism.

So we don't respect democracy? Hypocrisy and screw democracy. And some of us are fine with that. WTF?

You should read the article for more info on the 2018 election and illegality of the coup. The election itself was fair but a couple of the candidates were blocked from running for questionable reasons. Other candidates boycotted it and told UN observers not to monitor the vote

They don't necessarily support Maduro. They support Chavez's legacy. Some of Maduro's harshest critics are Chavistas. One of Maduro's opponents in the last election was a Chavista, who would've won if the vote didn't get split with another candidate.
