I hope China declares total economic war!!!!

I want China to declare total economic warfare on Trump.

that means banning American goods, banning American commercial ships and planes, and cashing in on all their US Treasuries.

this will temporarily screw the US Economy...unless of course Trump backs down from his bully, harass, arrogant tactics.

if Trump backs down, things will be ok.

if Trump doesn't back down, he'll lose in 2020 and the Democrat who wins will reset trade relations with China and we'll be fine again.


so now Trump has to decide which is more important: his pride and ego or his Presidency?

 

War with China over them paying more taxes?

When Democrats want to treat our citizens as Trump treats china, why are no Democrats claiming Trump is at war with the rich or other presidents are at war with the rich.

I speak of the wars against the Rich by the Democrats and all they do is deny.

 

I want them too but not for the same reasons. It would crash the Chinese economy. That would be like McDonalds declaring war on 50% of their customers. Remember they are the SELLER and us the Customer. They need us more then we need them. We can get cheap stuff from India and Nigeria just as easily. That is why already many things in the supply chain are reverting back to Mexico. China does what you say and we will not have to worry about them as a potential economic rival any longer.

 

I don't want that, China has a dictator, Trump is a wanna be dictator, so China does have an advantage, they do not need to go to that extreme

 

And it will screw them infinitely worse. We default on all those treasuries which we'd have to, our credit rating goes in the toilet but China then winds up with a huge oversupply of toilet paper.
One of the oldest sayings in the banking business is that if someone owes you a grand you have him by the balls, if he owes you a million he has you by the balls. imagine how bad that is when your owed trillions. China right now needs us far more than we need them. That's just the reality.

There was nothing stopping you from importing from Mexico or India or Nigeria in the first place. The result will be that your nett trade deficit will increase further. Why do you want to increase your nett trade deficit?

 

China at this point is cheaper so that is why they are the chosen supplier. BUT you are correct there is nothing stopping us from going to other supplier's which is exactly why China going full boar on the trade war is suicide. As to the trade deficit getting larger that does not make sense. We would be transferring the sales from one supplier to another not increasing our sales. That is unless the new supplier can actually make things cheaper. Then perhaps it would increase. But if that was the case we would already have begun to switch.

 

During the last Democrat's presidency, and in fact every other presidency for decades, trade relations with China have not been fine. They've been given unrestricted access to the American market while setting numerous stipulations on American companies that want to sell their products to Chinese buyers. The least of which is a complete lack of respect for intellectual property. They've also tossed aside any idea of free trade.

Why is Trump putting excises on Chinese imports so terrible when they've done the same thing to us for years?

 

The hardest are certain rare earths but all of them are available elsewhere it would just mean reopening our mines and paying more from other suppliers. Your Iphones would cost more for a few years.

A lot of the rare earths we get from china, they get from afghanistan, with our troops effectively pulling security detail. I'd wager if we pulled our troops out, we could afford many alternatives, and china's rare earths would get a lot more expensive with them playing 'civilize the barbarians' instead.
