    This sounds like a positive step.

    Our current refugee problem is 100% Mexico's fault, even though these are not Mexicans. Mexico keeps a pretty tight southern border, unless people are moving all the way across Mexico to the US, then the gates are down. Since Mexico is facilitating this and won't do anything to stop it, it's punishment time.

    A failure in our immigration system, a high demand for illegal substances generating a massive industry that no wall will stop (because they aren't brought in over the open border anyway), bulldust, more bulldust, a heaping helping of bulldust, and the fault of anti-vaccers.

    Mexico is no more to blame than Greece, Italy or Spain are to blame for refugees reaching Germany or the UK. Nor is this at all the right attitude or response to have to an influx of refugees in the first place.

    Tariffs are simply another form of taxation. It's bewildering how conservatives & Republicans--traditionally against all forms of taxation--are now supporting Trump's idiocy. Every Trump tariff increases the cost of goods Americans have to pay for. China & Mexico aren't paying more to us. They are raising the price of the items we buy so WE pay the tariffs. Trump is making everyday life more difficult for all of us with his crazy tariff antics. How much more of this will it take to finally make Trump supporters see Trump for the chump he is?

    They aren't obligated to stop these people. Rather, they are legally obligated to let them through. Trump may think and act like a bully and a tyrant, but that can't override the rule of law here or in Mexico.

    Why would they be legally obliged to let them through? They were escaping their own country and Mexico is their neighbor. They have a duty to take care of them and handle that situation themselves.

    Wow. That is all just terrible. Perhaps you would be happier in Russia. Trump seems rather enamoured with Putin, after all; and we have all witnessed how level headed he is. Why, just look at how he has surrounded himself by and hired only the "best" people, just as he claimed he would. I bet he would give you a great price on the Brooklyn bridge if you asked him.     How much do you think we should pay Mexico to protect our borders? With all of Trumps ranting about how the US isn't being fairly reimbursed for what we have done for other countries, you can't possibly be suggesting that Mexico do it for nothing. After all, isnt Trumps mantra "What's in it for us?" Turnabout is fair play, is it not? Before long, if Trump remains in office, we won't be able to enlist the assistance of any of our allies, regardless of how much we beg and offer to pay them. They no longer trust us.
