Because it was clearly retribution for reporting on classroom conditions. The firing isn't justifiable because the motive is punitive not economic or related to performance. Like I said ... I'd like to read that non disclosure policy. This teacher's attorney will for sure.

You’re entitled to free speech but not a job. Conservatives generally take the position that employers should be able to fire whoever they want.

 

The teacher didn’t refuse to educate illegals. She just reported their presence to the government that is responsible for policing them. She reported a crime.

If conservatives want to win this battle, they should claim to be Islamic and then they will have license to say anything they want without any negative consequence at all (up to and including beheading infidels, like the Muslim kids in the Philadelphia school were singing about).

 

What I am saying is that a teachers job is to teach these children if they are enrolled in their classes not to bad mouth them on social media and try to get them dragged away and thrown into cages or locked in hot vans for hours.

I am not a Democrat and I have reported crimes in the past and prevented crimes by intervening several times in my life. However I think it is inappropriate for a teacher to attempt to get a child arrested and deported, especially in these times where children, through no fault of their own are being treated like animals by immigration officials. Some children have died as a result of the irresponsible and ruthless actions of immigration officials. Since the idiotic Sessions/Trump era it has gotten far worse. I am glad this person is not and hopefully never will be a teacher again. In my opinion he/she does not have the compassion or understanding required for that profession. Kudos to the school board who voted 8-0 to sh*tcan this idiot. In Texas, I am sure that at least some of those who voted were Republicans.

My kid's school wanted to see his papers, he couldn't get enrolled without them. As for the strip search, many schools have metal detectors at the doors and at least one school is only allowing the students to use clear see-through backpacks.

No children were going to be arrested but I’m sure ICE would be notified and given their home address. Also, you mention your concern for children dying? Really, what about all the children being assaulted, raped, stolen, sex trafficked, as a result of their parents trying to cross the border illegally. Our immigration and especially our asylum laws certainly need to be addressed. Trump took office and had GOP majorities in both houses from the time he took office in January 2017 until thee months ago. Why didn’t he and his congressional lackeys address those issues then? Now that the Democrats control the House, he skulks out of any meeting like a crybaby because congress is engaging in investigations on his administration. Suddenly there is a huge increase in people lining up at our borders seeking asylum and causing chaos on the Southern Border. Methinks Trumps I’ll advised policies are creating problems, not solving them.

All U.S. public schools are constitutionally required to provide schooling to all children, regardless of immigration status, following the Supreme Court’s 1982 decision in Plyler v. Doe.

This means that schools are not allowed to deter undocumented children from enrolling or to ask about their immigration status. They are also not allowed to report students or their families to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
